So I've felt more uncomfortable recently, but today the pelvic pain and backache is much worse, this afternoon the back pain seems to be increasing, its confusing me cos the pain peaks and then eases off, and then can be 5 mins later, 10 mins later or even 20 mins later that it peaks again. I decided to go to the loo and noticed on the pad I was wearing that there were a couple streaks of what looked like blood, but when I wiped there was just a speck of blood and the rest looked more pinky. To me that doesnt look like a show because I know its supposed to be a mucusy thing...I think I have lost a little of my plug the last couple of days but nothing substantial.

I called the labour ward, baby hasn't been moving too much today, she said if I dont get at least another 4 movements by 8pm then I'm to call back. She seemed to think the blood isn't anything to worry about, but if there is anymore then I'm to also call back. And if the contractions (thats what she called them but I'm not convinced) get more regular hen I'm also to call back.

I spose the fact that its more in my back does make sense because the baby is back to back with me.

Just dont know what to think really, the blood worries me because its not the typical bloody show that I was expecting, and babs has been on the quiet side, but then if contractions have started then I know babies go quiet.

Still waiting for movement number 1 out of the 4.

I can understand ur worry hun but i think all this may be due to your body getting ready to give birth to ur lil bubz....good luck and i hope baby kicks soon to put ur mind at ease :hugs: xXx

Thanks x I guess its all just very confusing cos I've never had a contraction, so I have no idea what to expect, and think is this pain a contraction or just a weird pain?! Pain just peaked again so am timing til the next one.

Not wanting to cause extra worry but its not 'normal' for a babys movements to slow just before or during labour.

I hope baby gets a wriggle on soon. if not please call labour ward asap.

:hugs:

hey cookie !!
ok the bloody show is exactly like what you described hun the mucous plug usually comes out before that mine was literally a streak of bllod with my daughter that was it. the pains could be early labour too. hope so hun keep us updated !!! xx

Well he's moved already so not so worried now, infact he just moved again.

Thanks Emmi - fingers crossed this is the start.

Jox - my babs does tend me be abit sporadic in his movements, no pattern so hard to know when he is having a quiet day. yesterday he was on the go all day, but the 2 days before that he was quiet in the day and then on the go all evening. Likes to keep me guessing.

Will just wait it out and see how it goes. Pains definitely aren't anywhere near regular though, and not consistent.

hey hun,
i had some bleeding and went in to the hospital and they checked everything over for me it .. it was pink like you described and there wasn't alot of it.
doctor couldn't figure out what it came from, he said some times my LO was fine and sometimes a little blood vessel is babies umbelical cord can break, or in the placenta, and that its completly harmless .. and that also even just a sneeze or a cough can put a little extra pressure on the cervix and cause a little bleeding

my LO was perfectly fine and they couldn't find an exact cause for the bleeding but i really didn't think it was my bloody show either, there was no mucus so lets hope this is it for you, and if not i hope your LO is ok! mine was :)

SOunds like baby is on the way hun! Great news. The blood doesn't sounds like anything to be concerned about to me either!

Just wanted to add that (if you haven't done it already) get on your hands and knees! This position is a great one for pain relief for back to back labour. When you're on your hands and knees the baby is tipped slightly out of the pelvis giving him/her more room to turn ready to be born. Plus, due to the decreased pressure on the cervix many mummies to be don't experience as much discomfort during their contractions. This position also allows for great counter pressure for the lower back.

WIshing you well xxxx

Thanks ladies.

And thanks for the tips Freya - its bearable at the moment, so I think if this is it I've got abit of a wait, they seem all over the place at the moment, 25 mins apart was the last one...but before that was 8.

Gonna go relax now, will update later.

I wouldn't worry about the movements. Looks like it was one of those quiet days today. I had one yesterday. I was on my feet all day, house work, cooking etc but when I only sad my bum on the sofa my little one started kicking as usual.

I have noticed she is much more active when I'm resting.

I still have 9 days to go but had a contractions last night. Couldn't sleep when discovered that they were quite regular - every 7-8 minutes from 3am. Fell asleep about 5am then woke up at 8 with a period like pain and contracions. I was sure that something has started - and then I soon I got up it has all stopped... :(

Fingers crossed for you!! I'm pretty sure that I will start properly for you soon :)

Thanks rosanna.

Well I've had what looks more like a bloody show, well pinky show really, pains are still all over the place and bearable, but hopefully things will pick up. I would hate for things to just stop, but being cynical I'm kind of expecting it to, but then thats probably because I'm thinking that contractions starting on my due date is abit too good to be true.

Babies movements have picked up too, he's just been having a right wiggle around. :)

I will update if things pick up.

Fingers crossed for you cookie that its the real thing xxx labour dust to you x

ooooh cookie!!.. are you gonna go to L&D then?

helllooooo sweety i really think this cud b the start of things i had 4 shows with my last baby and it was just how u described have u tried having a bath it may get the contracsions going more frequent. contracksions come in like a wave the highest point of the wave bein the most painfull then it will ease off then start all over again also the first few contracsions can b confused for braxton hicks. get a pen and paper and time ure pains how long they last and how often there coming if its the real thing then they shud come on stronger and stronger and last longer and longer but not all labours r text book. good luck babe try that bath xxxxxx

Aww I hope this is the start of labour keep me updated, hope ur all ready I can c ur baby coming very soon

hi cookie. Things are looking that way for you. Fingers crossed. My dd was back to back and i had all back labour. It is very confusing so i can understand that. Also back labours are slow so that would explain the contractions being all over the place. My dd took 28 hours in total. 16 of them i did at home. Fingers crossed yours does not take that long but relax when you can. Nice warm bath curled up helped me with back labour. :) xx

Thanks ladies.

And thanks Katstar - yeh I am finding it abit confusing with the back pain, but as a contraction should it comes, and then peaks and then eases off, and then can be 5, 10 even 30 minutes later I'll have another. Eased off abit and now is back with a vengeance, am really tired so going to try and get some sleep, the pain is still bearable so should be able to.

I just have this fear that I will wake up in the morning and there will be no pain...I hope that doesn't happen. Have had more of a show so thats postive.

xx

you dare jump the queue !!!! just you dare !!!! xx

Good Luck honey!!!

Thinking of you
