Hi all,:hi: Im new to this site but i guessed id better join up so i can share my thoughts and stories and chat to all you moms to be and all who are ttc!
the main reson im posting this is to ask if there is anyone on here who suffers with panic attcks.
ive suffrered with them for years, yet in july this year i managed to come off all my anti depressants for us to try to have a baby.
result! im just over 7 weeks pregnant, and over the moon, the only problem is that the panic attacks that i had managed to get rid of completely for nearly a year have come back with a vengance.
the docs have put me on an old anti deppressant (doseulepin) to try and calm me down a bit but in the meantime, while i wait for them to kick in, i feel like im going insane!
the permanent lightheadedness is making it worse (had this before i took any tablets) , i feel like im going to passout all the time.
ARHHGHHHH can someone tell me that this might ease off a bit after a while? (please lol!)
sory to start on such a depressing post, but im usually a chirpy bird i am!!!

Hi hun,

Welcome to the forum!

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I can't really help on any of your quesries, but I didn't want to read and run....

Why are you on anti-depressants for panick attacks?? I have never heard anything like that........unless ofcourse you know what sparks them?...(sorry, thinking aloud lol). Anyway, firstly did you tell your GP you was pregnant, sorry if that is a silly question?

As for the panic attacks, my cousin suffers really bad with them and is in and out of hospital all the time. They do scan after scan and investigation after investigastion, and although they have decided on a way to try and help her, anti-depressants have not ever been mentioned as a way to help..........so I am really sorry as I am not going to be any help for you there either.

Talk to your GP about it hun, I am sure s/he will be much more help to you and be able to set your mind at rest.

I hope you feel better soon hun and have a very healthy & happy pregnancy! :hugs:x

:hi: I suffered from panic attacks briefly they are awful but I can control my breathing & stop them happening now....just thought I might mention though that early pregnancy feels quite similar sicky feeling, lighthead, moods all over the place ?! Hope you feel better soon :hugs:

Hello. I just happened to read your post and was very greatful that I did. I am currently TTC for #1 and I am also currently on Celexa 80mgs for SEVERE anxiety and OCD. It was a hard decision to decide to remain on medication, but both my psychiatrist and OB/GYN agreed that it was the best idea for me. I am still nervous about what the affects could be, but I am trying daily to trust God and take care of myself every other way I know how.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that when I am off my medicine, and sometimes even on, I have panic attacks. They are AWFUL/scary/embarrasing...you name it!! I just wanted you to know that you are not alone :hugs: Congratulations on your pregnancy...Best Wishes! Keep yourself healthy, cause if you aren't doing good, your baby can't.

thanks for the replys girls.
Tam, I was prescribed anti depressants for my panic attacks some years ago, to which i replyed 'but im not depressed...' but the docs said that they would calm me down a bit and stop my brain from going off on one lol, and i have to say that they were a life saver, but as i got stronger i decided to come off them.
I know exactley what sparks them off though, its when im not in control of my body, ie feeling lightheaded, dizzy, shortness of breath etc.... and of course i get paranoid that im going to make a total wally out of myself in public!
the doc knows im pregnant and also knows we had been trying too, so shes done a bit of research to see which tabs are a bit more tried and tested baby wise. Im happy taking them, as i know id be a terrible state without them, and shes also referred me to see a local psychiatrist ,and today i feel a wee bit better in myself, not back to fighting form, but better than i was lol!
