This sounds real real weird okay...

So my belly button has started to pop.
But. It seemed to just suddenly appear and it feels strange. When I poked it the once it felt like it went back in and felt like I could almost feel a hole and I'd just pushed the flesh back in.

I wondered can you get hernia in your belly button from being pregnant?
It feels strange I can't explain it, I don't know if it's cuz I mess too much with it now but I feel like my belly is fit to burst anyway.
And I'm scared cuz I'm only going to get bigger.

Sometimes it feels like it's throbbing and it feels better when I'm lay down but sat or stood up I'm very aware of how my belly button feels.

I googled... I know bad idea and you can get it if you have a weak spot. Eg the umbilical cord didn't 'seal shut' properly so when you're pregnant it suddenly puts pressure and can make a fleshy bit pop out.

I'm horrified now. Because as a child I used to freak out about my belly button. And after everything I eat I feel so full and stretched and it makes the feeling worse.

Should I at least ask my midwife if it's possible or a common thing and see my doctor? Or am I being an absolute wally?! Has anyone had one?!

I don't know for sure, but if it's any comfort to you, my belly button has started to pop, but it's not even at all. It's a bit lopsides and if I push down all around it, it feels like there are bits poking out that shouldn't be? I dunno how to describe it! Pretty sure it's okay.. I can't remember how my belly button started popping out with my first.
If you're worried, I'm sure it can't hurt to see your midwife :)

Yes it feels like things popping out that shouldn't! Eugh it just feels so stance. It sticks out way more when I sit up and I feel like my belly button is going to break :/

Belly buttons are creepy anyway!

Definitely going to give them a call on my week off next week if it freaks me out or changes more :/

Eg. Just had a coughing fit n instinctively touched my belly button n it pops out way more when coughing eeee

My bellybutton popped in the 3rd trimester with my first, the second trimester with my second, and this time it was out (and visible through my shirt) at 12 weeks. The sad thing is, after I have my babies, it never really goes all the way back in. :(

But if it's any consolation, I've had people tell me that they're jealous of my popped-out bellybutton, because theirs never did and a lot of people see it a cute "trademark" of pregnant bellies. :flower:

Hi Hun, I'm a sonographer. Sounds like you have a small umbilical hernia. It's not of any worry unless very large or painful. Tell your mw or OB just so they are aware xx

Yeah I think it would be like 'the beginning' to one, that's why it's not painful but feels strange. So I don't want it to get worse as I get bigger. I'm calling her Monday anyway but my appt isn't for another five weeks x

Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done about it while pregnant. It might stay small but it's very possible that it will get bigger. They can fix it once bub is born xx

Look into the Mutu system. It can help prevent from worsening it. I was doing the program before I got pregnant this third time because I have diastasis recti from previous pregnancies. Had great results in closing the gap some and strengthening the connective tissue. It also teaches you what not to do, like when laying down, get up by rolling on your side first. I do the Core/Focus program during pregnancy and so far so good. Its basically great for keeping your TVA/core and pelvic floor strong during pregnancy and then helps to heal the core and pelvic floor after pregnancy.

My belly button feels weird when I touch it.

My belly doesn't feel half as bad as yesterday. I was dreadfully uncomfortable yesterday and today my belly button doesn't feel strange!

I do try to get up carefully as to not strain my tummy though. I definitely will look up strengthening core muscles, I think I'll need it with my spine as I get bigger anyway.

Maybe I just felt particularly stretched and full yesterday which put strain around my belly button?

I'm trying not to eat big portioned meals this week though and I am finding I feel fuller quicker! I don't want to stretch quicker than I have to!

From going from a tiny toned tummy to stretching at this rate is crazy for me. I luckily don't have stretch marks yet but I think when the pace of growing quickens I will just rip all over..
