Hi all, firstly sorry for the essay......
I recently found out I'm pregnant (Tuesday to be exact). I am 4w2d and I have pcos. We had been trying for a very very long time with the help of ft.
I'm really worried at the minute as I don't have an appt with my dr for a few more days and Im worried about the increased chance of mc. When you see a fs they focus so much on getting you pg they don't tell you what to do when you finally get pregnant.
I know I should have done some more research before hand but haven't really wanted to get ahead of myself. Im so stressed out at the minute as I seem to have lost all my symptoms over the last couple of days except for cramping which isn't severe but constant. I'm still testing positive though.
Should I be asking my dr for any specific tests or supplements relating to pcos that might help sustain this pregnancy?
Thanks in advance

Try not to worry to much hun. Even though its hard. I had/have pcos and my first pregnancy was so smooth but i was so worried about miscarrieing. Took us 2 year to concieve naturally. Now my little man is 1 and im pregnant again after only 1 month of not being on the pill! Good luck to u hun. And hope for a hapoy and healthy 9months!

Xx

hi there ... congratulations :-)... from experience you need to inform your dr. about the pcos, get ur blood work done progesterone and all, also i would ask the dr. if u need to be taking progesterone tablets, vaginal cream, or the injection... and anything to keep the HCG up. also i was asked to monitor my HCG as blood tests every 2 days to ensure that it is rising .. if you do that it a good indication to the pregnancy also better that constantly doing scans .

i am sorry i dont mean to worry you ... but due to what has recently happened personally ... i would do that :-) good luck hope and pray all is fine

When I saw my midwife for my booking in appt she referred me to a consultant due to pcos so my care is consultant led. 1st scan next week :)

Hey I'm not sure why treatment you took but I've got pcos too and it took us 10 months to fall pregnant... I'm 10 weeks now and have only now started to believe everything will be ok... I think it is just harder for us to fall pregnant... As for miscarriage im thinking our risks would be no different to any other woman..my doctor didn't seem concerned... I had a dating scan at 5w 5 days because I ha no idea when I fell pregnant as I'd had bleeding which I thought was my period 2 weeks before... The baby had a heartrate of 165 and they said everything was looking as it should at that stage... They also checked that my overies were fine at the scan... Sorry to ramble but I wish u all the best xxx

I have PCOS n hypothyroidism. I took clomid so I was meant to take progesterone after ovulation. I never did so I started after I got my BFP. Other than that I'm gettin monthly bloodwork to keep my tsh level within limits. Ur that's about it n so far so good.

I'm being seen by a private and a public dr and none seem overtly concerned about the PCOS, and so far so good we heard the heart beat and everything. I have anothe scan next week, I'll be 8 weeks so we'll see how it goes...

I've never been offered progesterone. Should I have?!

Depending on your levels. I was old to take just as precaution I think. Over here you can get it over the counter anyway...It gives me a bit of peace of mind

I was on my last cycle of clomid when we conceived. I was taking 200mg by tht point. I had to take a high dose because every other month clomid would fail I'd have very low progesterone result from day 21 testing and not have ovulated. On those failed cycles my level was normally around 1.5!! The thing tht has me worried is that at the beginning of the week I felt pregnant and now I don't. I'm still testing positive with no bleeding but now I've got zero symptoms other than a bit of cramping.
It has taken dh and I 5 years to conceive and I'm scared it's already gone. Our fetility specialist has NEVER said that we would have to take anything to keep me pregnant due to pcos and progesterone I don't understand why.

Congrats on your pregnancy. Ask for progesterone its suppose to help women with PCOS which i also have. It helps to allow the hcg levels to double on time. DR may do a preogesterone test befor hand to make sure the supplements are truely needed. GL and h&h 9 months

I also have PCOS it took us one year to conceive. I was actually on clomid for three cycles and it thinned my lining so I stopped and got pregnant the cycle after I stopped clomid.

My RE did tell me having PCOS increases your risk of m/c but he couldn't tell my by how much. When I got my BFP on 14 dpo he had me get my hcg levels checked and progesterone. They continued to check my hcg a couple more times to make sure it is rising as it should. My progesterone was just under what he likes to see so I am on a vaginal progesterone gel once a day. I didn't even get started on that until 5 weeks. I would just ask your dr to check your progesterone and see if you can get on a supplement just in case. My dr also has me on one baby aspirin a day that is also supposed to help prevent m/c. Good luck!

Also I don't really have much for symptoms. My sore boobs come and go so of course I get worried. I took another hpt this morning just for reassurance. I think it is normal for symptoms to come and go this early so I wouldn't stress about that :)

I have pcos and take metformin through my pregnancy x

Thanks ladies, I glad to hear that the fact tht I haven't taken anything yet doesn't mean I'm too late. I think I will feel better once I've seen a dr.

I have PCOS, took me 7 years (4 of full treatments) to have my daughter and for this baby 2.5 years. One of the main problems with women with PCOS (I am going to a high risk OBG) is that most of us do not develop a good corpus lutem, this deficiency makes women with PCOS more prone to m/c in the first trimester (not that Drs. tell us that though), my only piece of advice is to make sure your Dr. or midwife gets an early ultrasound and that they check the status of your corpus lutem and what your progesterone reading is....if it's not above 20 and the ultrasound shows a not defined corpus lutem then they should supplement you with progesterone (my first pregnancy was a success due to that and so far all is good with this one due to that).

On the second trimester...make sure they run the 3 hours Glucose Tolerance Test...if you are borderline (sometimes you pass the test only for a couple of points) I strongly suggest you treat yourself as if you had gestational diabetes, women with PCOS are more prone to that on that stage of pregnancy.

Other than that...enjoy :cloud9: PCOS is a mean disease...that can really take a toll on your womanhood...Glad to see another woman beat it up!!!!!:hugs:

Can I ask how logarithm into your pregnancy you had help with your Progesterone levels. I'm 4wk3d and all my symptoms have stopped I'm scared this means I'm too late. I had progesterone levels taken at day 21 ( I'm about cd31 now) to confirm ovulation and I still haven't had the results I keep being told they haven't come back yet.
