Morning ladies!

So I just got my BFP on my 3rd round of clomid and instead of the elated feeling I thought id have, all i have is worry.
I have pcos and know that the chance of miscarriage is increased. Does anyone know how much by or if there is anything I can do to help? Should I be doing anything other than taking my folid acid?
Thank you so much ladies!

xxxx

OMg !!! Congrats on your bfp!! I heard that with pcos you can have low progesterone can be low. Have you had that tested?

Ooh thank you for that info, I only found out this weekend so i'll get an appointment at the docs tomorrow and make them run some bloods, im so scared but super happy at the same time... weird emotion! lol xx

omg just saw this post and then saw it was you!! don't know if you remember but we spoke about having long cycles & pcos a little while ago, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so pleased for you!!! this really gives me hope :)

btw I have been prescribed clomid now :happydance: (haven't started it yet tho) so hopefully I might be joining you soon!!!!!!!!!!! :hugs:

I have read that progesterone supplements are meant to help hun? xxx Congrats aswell xxx

Thank ladies! I couldnt believe it... in fact only the day before I got my bfp I went white water rafting and then had a few to drink! I was so sure I was out as Ive had no symptoms. I still havent but 12 pregnancy tests tell me Im preggo! Yay!

Lace&pearls - course I remember you, good luck with the clomid! Its amazing stuff :-)

Im just super scared.
I went to the docs today and she said they cant give me progesterone as its not licensed?! She also didnt congratulate me (despite blatantly being able to see my notes of TTC for 15 months and having fertility treatment).
She didnt ask me to do a test there, or discuss scans or anything.
She just said my chance of MC is 50/50 and that only time will tell.

Its so hard being so happy and scared at the same time!

xxx

I have mild PCOS and my FS put me on Metformin until I was 7 weeks, and Progesterone Suppositories until 10 weeks.

Have you had your progesteron levels tested? If it's low, please consider changing docs to one who can prescribe Progesterone. Your journey has been difficult to get pregnant, so just do whatever you can to get baby to stick through the 9 months.

Thank you, this is what I keep hearing from nearly every pregnant pcos lady!
I am having bloods done today and friday to check my levels are rising.
I have also spoken to my FS who is very well known as one of the leading FS in the country and he has also said that he would only give progesterone to someone who has reaccurring miscarriages.

I am wondering if I should just buy some progesterone cream myself but dont want to do anything wrong. Eek, suppose i'll see what the results say?

xx

There are two schools of thought with Progesterone Suppositories. Some experts believe it helps while some doesn't. Maybe your FS has his own reasons for prescribing it only for those who've had miscarriages?

From my own personal view, it took so much effort, pain and tears to get a pregnancy and I'm taking it even if it works or doesn't work. I don't see the harm of taking it, if it doesn't harm baby or me. Also, I've read that a couple of members on this forum had low progesterone levels and the suppositories helped them carry to term.

My question is, if you need the progesterone suppositories and don't get it prescribed by your FS, do you really need to lose a little baby before he/she will give it to you? A very expensive price to pay, it seems.

Please do wait until you get your blood results, your Doc may just prescribe it if you need it :)

Thank you JaniceT, I totally agree with you - I would like to get some, as you say surely it cant hurt. If I lose this baby it will kill me :-(

If my levels are near the low end I will talk to my FS again and i may even stamp my feet lol.

Good luck with your pregnancy! xx

Sazaroo - your Dr sounds terrible :growlmad: But my gynae said exactly the same about progesterone - only if you have recurring m/c  Which I think is shocking!!! They want you to go through recurring heartache to get a drug freely available everywhere else in the world - just not in the blooming UK :growlmad:

You have to be very careful with progesterone though. If you start using it, you have to keep going until about 16 weeks and then come off it very slowly because your placenta will be supporting the baby. Also, can you buy progesterone cream without a prescription???

When do you get your bloods back?

Thank you, its rubbish isnt it - makes me wonder why we bother paying our national insurance!
I had to pay for my own private FS as the nhs wouldnt help for another 2 years so youd think the least they can do it help me now :nope:

Anywho, Im having more bloods done friday and then they said the results should be back middle of next week. Just hope its not too late by then.

I have found a few sites that let you buy progesterone cream without a presc. but Im worried about doing something without the blessing of my FS so i'll see what the results say and take it from there.

Thank you ladies for all your help :hugs:

Thank you :) I too wish you all the very best! As the weeks go by, your anxiety will fall and it'll all be much better for you :) All the best to you in your 9-month journey!

Hey Sazaroo, congrats!! You give me hope O:)Try not to worry, i know it must be hard will keep everything crossed for you. I think i'd be exactly the same!!

Out of interest did you have a short LP or low levels of progesterone before you got pregnant?

I've done quite a bit of research on progesterone supplements as i think ive got a LP defect, i found a site saying that you its not licenced in the uk and you cant get it without a prescription (or other websites abroad).

Your doctor sounds rubbish (a bit like mine!!)

My progesterone before I went on Clomid was 12, im not sure how low that is?
My LP was always about 14-15 days.

My doc said only my FS can prescribe me progesterone supps but he wont, I trust him, he's lovely but im anxious to see what my bloods say. If my levels are low I will throw a paddy :-)

xx

Thank you for the congrats btw :-)
Trying not to get too excited at the mo but its nice to have you ladies and your support x
