PCOS and twins/multiples

Hi guys. I have searched the forum and can not find specific information to my question so thought I'd add a new thread in here. Please feel free to point me in the right direction So......

Does anyone know what the percentages are for women with PCOS having twins or triplets? I know that the chances are higher because of ovulation often being all over the place with PCOS sufferers as mine is.

I haven't had a period since April and now I am 5 weeks pregnant! A bit out of the blue but I guess when you are trying there is always the chance it will work

I read somewhere a while ago that when you have PCOS and don't have a period for a long period when you do eventually ovulate sometimes the ovaries release more than one egg? Is that right. I know that everyone has the chance of this happening but I read that this happens more often with PCOS due to the long periods of not ovulating.

Does anyone have any idea if this is true and what are the increased chances of having twins or more?

I've heard this. I think it also depends on your age. They say that women over 35 also have a greater chance of releasing multiple eggs. I haven't seen any specific info on twins/multiples and PCOS. Most of the statistics that I've seen has to do with women with PCOS having multiples due to the use of fertility drugs. Good luck finding what you are looking for. Congrats on getting pregnant!!

Hahaha thanks. I am intrigued. With my first pregnancy my periods had been fairly regular but this one like I said has been 4 months up to conception between periods. Exciting times.

I also have PCOS hun.Congrats to you WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for us beating the crap out of PCOS and concieving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ive only every heard of PCOS girls taking clomid having multis.Hope thats not the case thoughId love Twins/Triplets etc bring it on lol

like the others have said, I think that multiples and pcos most often occur because of fertility drugs being used. I dont have PCOS but I had ovulation problems and used clomid, Im SO curious and anxious to see if Im having one or two babies! (or more....) haha but the chances dont really go up that much with clomid. I am twin though so maybe having twins run in the family and clomid increases my chances more. ahhh here I am rambling on your thread, sorry!

i too have pcos and used clomid with my son who is 3 and again this time and we just had a scan on thurs and theres two!!! we are very excited to say the least but again it was medicated?! good luck

I have no idea, I have PCOS and have been pregnant 3 times, 1 was a blighted ovum and then right now as well as my first were singletons

Haha..I too am a rambler when it comes to posting so don't worry. I like to hear what people have to say.

It's interesting to know multiples in pcos are generally related to taking clomid. Twins run on my mums side but we only know of one set the previous generation to her. I probably have the same chance as anyone at having twins. I'll be happy whatever and pray the baby/s are healthy
