PCOS help

Thank you! Did you just stop taking it once you got your BFP? What dosage did you take?

Thanks again, and congrats on your BFP!!! :)

1600mg/day. And I'm going to take it through the first trimester. I've read too many cases of women stopping it and having a mc bc they needed it to keep their progesterone up.

Hi ladies! I just wanted to bump this thread up. I'm currently on CD48 with no AF in sight. Just curious about the agnus cactus and if it's still working for you. I'm hesitant to try any supplements but my cycles are getting longer each time, so I might have PCOS too :(. I had a BFN on Friday and no symptoms so my body is just not working properly. Once I actually get AF and start a new cycle, I'm going to temp for the first time. This next cycle will be my 4th TTC.

Thanks for the advice!

This is my first cycle on it, but I O'd on day 21, which is super early for me. I would definitely say it works. I was previously having 2-3 month cycles. I'm currently in my tww and hoping for the best.... a few more days before I can test.. I tested today but I'm only 9dpo so it was probably too early. I would say its definitely worth a shot. I'm not sure about taking it after you get your bfp. I have done a lot of reading that says it's dangerous to take while pregnant and to stop as soon as you get your bfp.

I'm so glad it's helping! How do you know you O'd? From temping? This gives me hope that I can get my body back on track :).

Hm, I've read that too about stopping but then other people say to keep taking it for the first trimester so you don't MC. Either way the side effects are scary. :/

FX that you finally get your BFP!!

I temped. I tried OPKs but they didn't work. They don't a lot for PCOS women. I'm not stopping. I haven't read about any negative side effects from taking it. So I'm very confident in my decision to continue. A main issue with PCOS is insufficient progesterone which is VITAL to pregnancy and vitex helps regulate that. If you stop the vitex your progrsterone plummets causing MC.

I temped, tracked my cm and took OPK. When I start seeing ewcm, I start taking OPKs. This cycle, my O was very obvious. CM was extremely apparent, I had O pains, + opk and then a temp rise that thankfully stayed elevated...

Congratulations kylasbaby on your bfp!
It's great to see success with agnus cactus

I'm convinced that's what did the trick. With my 50, 80 day cycles and not ovulating and this cycle I did!

I went from a regular monthly cycle to absolutely nothing for nearly 5 months. I went to see a specialist and was diagnosed with PCOS. After an HSG (ouch) I was prescribed provera to bring on AF, and Clomid. 2 rounds of 50mg did nothing, 1st round 100mg had chemical pregnancy, 3rd round 100mg BFP!!!

Have you spoken to your doctor about Clomid?

Today is CD 50 and no AF still. Can't wait for my Vitex to come tomorrow! Should I start taking it even though AF should arrive any time now? I keep having some AF symptoms so I would expect it soon, but every day I wake up and it's still not here. Last cycle was 46 days. I will take a pregnancy test tomorrow morning just to triple check though.

Thanks, Laura for the advice on Clomid and congrats on your pregnancy! If Vitex doesn't work for me in a few cycles, then I will go to my doctor and get a second opinion about whether I'm ovulating on my own or not. I want to give the natural remedy a solid try before going on Clomid. Before the BCP, I didn't have trouble like this so I think I can kick it back into gear with Vitex. I am very glad Clomid worked for you and gives me hope because I have that option :).

I started mine in the middle of my last cycle as I hadn't ovulated and AF hadn't arrived. It made me ovulate and brought AF then I got pregnant the next cycle! I tried femara and conceived in January (unfortunately ended in MMC), but wanted to try the natural route this time too

I Used to stop taking agnus cactus once I had ovulated. But since reading this I don't know whether I should maybe carry on taking it? Im 4dpo today and I have kept taking it but I'm worried it may make me start my period?!
Last cycle my LP was only 8 days..

If you stop taking it it doesn't have time to build up in your system. It is a slow acting herb and can take three months for full effect as it has to build up first. So essentially each cycle you are starting over because from O to AF it gets completely out of your system. It is helpful in regulating your cycle and lengthening LP. Might take a few cycles to do this, but it does help. It shouldn't bring AF before it's due though you may have a few wonky cycles while your body gets used to it and it works to regulate your hormones.

I take it through my entire cycle. If taken regularly, it is supposed to help lengthen a short luteal phase. It is beneficial to take it throughout your whole cycle because it helps regulate your reproductive hormones and system. So by not taking it all month, it isn't able to work to its full potential.

Thank you both! I will continue to take it from now on and hope it lengthens my LP slightly
