I had my US pelvis today and they said my womb was good nothing wrong there, and my 1 ovary looked fine but the other looked polycistic , but the consultant said i wouldn't need treatment , if i count my calories it would just go  i thought i would of been allowed Clomid considering im struggling to lose weight and im in my 4th year of ttc this sept. Any advice would be appreciated :flower:

I wasn't given clomid straight away - I had to have hsg, come back in 5 months and prove that I wasn't ovulating before they would give me clomid. x

That's more than my consultant said. I had my scan last week. He announced I had PCOS, wrote me a prescription for Metformin and sent me on my way in a bit of a daze :S I've had to do all the research myself to find out what it means and what I should be doing... I've only been taking Metformin since Friday but already lost 5lbs and have lost my appetite...

i love how they expect us to find out things our self!! thats great tickledpink!! They said i cant have a hsg because its a waste of resources because im underage for IVF, its so annoyin, my friend is only 18 and has had all the testing and is on Clomid now. x

yeah i guess they would only do hsg if you are about to be put on clomid to check your tubes are clear. i was sent away wiht nothing first appt too - maybe speak to your gp, cry (worked for me) and ask for metformin for pcos symptoms and weight? worth a start. xx

Yep, they just assume we know what they're talking about... for years I was told my periods were irregular because I was overweight. It's only since I've lost the weight and been TTC that they've finally figured it out.

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?? We've had to go private because we were refused funding in February because I was too old... 36... yeah I'm ancient :jo:

Thanks girls!! how are u dragonmummy?

Im 22 hun xx

Hey love, am great thanks. Back on the wagon after a mc last month. But getting there, at least I know the clomid is working now! How old do you have to be to progress further?

Aw sorry to hear that hun!, they told me i have to be 23 to go on the waiting list, and under 12 stone, but then its gonna be hard work now with this pcos, im only shifting a few lbs x

that will work for you t'elle - as long as they can see your weight is dropping that will help. my bmi was 32 when they handed the clomid over.

Have no advice, but love the way they can drop a bombshell like that and STILL bring it around to losing weight!! Have they given a target weight at which it should get "better"?

xxx

23? That's crazy! If there's a problem, I don't see why you have to wait...

I had to lose weight to get my BMI below 30 to qualify for IVF. I did the Lighter Life diet and lost 5st in 5 months... best thing I ever did.

TP has it stayed off? Only I did Cambridge and found that it just piles straight back on again afterwards.

I finished Aug '09 and I've put on a stone since then which isn't bad going... It seems to have stabilised now though so it looks like I've got it under control now.

yep if i diet i put on weight! i pile on the lbs!!lol its a nightmare, xx

i weigh 16 and half stone ish, give or take a few lbs down because im going up and down a few lbs lately but not much, and they want me to be under 12 stone x

Its so expensive! :( i pay £40 a month for gym, and the petrol going to and from there :( and that doesn't even seem worthwhile as nothing is happening! its getting annoyin now x

I paid £66 a week for LL but I hear it's up to £70 now. It seemed expensive at the time but considering it was the only thing I ate/drank, I didn't have a grocery bill and there were no snacks or treats on the way home from work so it worked out I actually saved money. Don't suppose there's anything the Docs can suggest, seeing as they've suggested the weight loss?
