PCOS in one ovary now what?...

Yeah but id still haave to do a normal food shop for DH :( yeah i have been on orlistat a few months now prescribed by my gp but nothings happened really, i lost 6lbs, and then put it back on then lost another 5lbs and put back on 7lbs and i lost another 5lbs now x

Orlistat? Have to admit I don't know a thing about that... How about a low fat diet? The hospital gave me a diet sheet a couple of years ago after i fell ill with Pancreatitis. I lost 21lbs in just over 2 months. Could have a look for it if you fancy trying it? wasnt very strict so it was easy to stick to. Hopefully you can find something that works for you. I know how hard it is to lose weight. xx

I have a question girls. How did you find out you had PCOS? Did you have any symptoms before consulting?

Mine was only discovered last week, Koromaru. It was supposed to be a simple pre-treatment scan before we start ICSI next week and that's when they discovered it. Always had irregular cycles and a weight problem but they always said it was the excess weight causing the irregular cycles. PCOS never even crossed my mind, so I'm not sure if I ever had symptoms. I'm not really sure what I should've been looking for...

I'll have a look for the sheet, T'elle!

Hm, I guess it can't be PCOS then. I'm 135 lbs.

It doesn't matter what u weight hun , you can be slim and have it! alot of people aren't aware they have pcos, i have a few symptoms x

i was diagnosed in dec 08, started metformin 850mg x 2 daily in july 09 and still on it.

it has not helped me lose weight as it has with some people, the best thing i have found for losing weight is slimming world. lost 2 n a half stone 2 years ago in 5 months.

back on it now tho as i was very naughty and got into bad habits from lack of progress ttc.

been ttc for 13 n a half months now, got to go back to hospital in oct 10 and if no :bfp: by then they will give me something else.

trying to lose at least a stone n a half by then tho. started slimming world on monday and already lost 2lb!

well exept for the long cycle, and hormonal acne i dont have symptoms. i'd like to know if it pcos but GP is making me wait at least 6months.

hmmm sounds like it could be, love. When I looked into it there were actually loads of things related to pcos that I had and didn't even know about! The fact that I started my periods/developed breasts early (12 and 10 respectively) the fact that I struggle to get up in the mornings, recurrent migraines, all down to pcos and hormonal imbalance. Plus I have the obvious ones of struggling to lose weight but putting it on easily, spots, facial hair (seriously, the boys at work are having a beard competition. Am considering joining them....) and mad long cycles/lack of ovulation. But the slimmer you are the less the symptoms affect you. Which is why you are advised to lose weight with pcos as sometimes that alone is enough to get your cycle going again. However they do tend to forget about the "struggling to lose weight" thing.

yeah its really annoyin its like this is whats causing u not to lose weight, but we wont treat u until u lose the weight - huh?! and well done tryingf4no.1! thats great progress so far!! i think we need a group girls! xx

i no exacly how u feel, iv got to have a bmi of 29 to get clomid,
on my 1st appoimtnnt i got a hsg and bloods done,, lots of them
im only 20 but thy gave me a hsg
i was on metformin bout a year ago but it made me soooo illl xx

I'm considering myself very lucky!
I have very high bmi, I did think I had PCOS and told the doctor that's what I thought it was and that we had been ttc for 3 years (I didn't have to prove it) had blood tests and was confirmed I do have PCOS went on metaformin, provera and clomid straight away!
I've not been able to lose any weight for the last few years! I've tried just about every "diet" going all with very little or no success. In the first week of being on metaformin I lost 2lbs! so here to hoping it works for me. Totally argee with you about it making you feel ill! I feel sick most mornings and have head aches alot of the time but if its going to sort me out I'm not complaining. have heard of some people feeling really ill on it!

Another question. With PCOS, is it possible that when you cough or get up to fast you have ovarian pain?

i have pcos in both ovaries and was told i would need ivf, but less than a week ago, i discovered i am 4-5 weeks pregnant! it can happen! i never thought it would but keep trying!

i have pcos in both ovaries.

the met made me really ill the first two weeks but i dont have any side effects now, tho it isn't makin a difference with weight loss. i personally feel it is pointless for me but have to keep on takin it till october when i go back to the hospital.

if im not pregnant by then they will start me on another form of treatment, not sure what this will be yet but i wanna lose weight before i go back to prove im committed to having a baby and doin all i can to help my body conceive.

using preseed this cycle so hopin it works for us. tonight will be the 2nd time, woke up the morning after the first time with a renewed sense of hope. hope this is to do with the preseed!

I was just wandering if with PCOS you can have sudden plain like when you get up from sitting really fast.
