Hey ladies I'm in need of some advice.

My doctor is just running the last of the bloods to confirm my PCOS and is then going to refer me to the very scary sounding infertility clinic.

I had a 104 day annovulatory cycle last month which ended with provera, and I'm worried this one is turning out the same way. I used to O around cd16, but today is cd26 and nothing. My opks have been positive or almost positive almost every day since cd10, and cbfm has been high since cd6. So I can't rely on them anymore.

I never had any problems before my last horrible cycle, where the same thing happened. Do you think theres any chance I will actually ovulate or should I just give up and focus on getting treatment? I'm really going crazy waiting to see the bbt rise that may never happen. Has anyone had a really late O? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have pcos and personally, I dont think I ovulate naturally. My cycles were very long indeed.

I am now on clomid and although I'm not pregnant, I have had 2 periods (30 day and 33 day) in 2 months.

The medication is scary but it works, don't worry.x

I have pcos and yesterday started taking inositol, which you can get from a health shop (got mine from Holland and Barrett). Clinical trials have proven that it helps fertility, ovulation, excess hair, it lowers testosterone levels which also lowers lh levels, oh and acne...basically helps all the problems pcos gives us. You would need to take 4g a day along with 400mg of folic acid...this is the dose proven to be effective.

The following website has information:

https://www.pcosdietsupport.com/supplements/inositol-and-pcos/

Also worth taking a high dose of vitamin c, zinc, vit d and e as they can also aid fertility.

I also use 20-1 cream which made me ovulate earlier which is progesterone cream with added estrogen, if you want info then please join the fb group I'm part of as there is alot of info and the lady who set up the group knows so much about fertility and pcos...there is alot that we can do to help ourselves.

Thanks guys. I'm already taking folic acid, zinc, etc, but had to stop the vitamin c because I had such vivid dreams I couldn't sleep properly (Random I know, but the dreams only happen on days I take it- I tested my theory). I forgot to mention, I did get some clomid this month to try and still nothing. I took 50mg on days 3 to 7.

I'll definitely go get some inositol. Especially if it helps the acne! I don't have any excess hair problems, just the cysts, high LH, acne and a little excess weight.

I'm just keen to get going with treatment. Clomid alone just doesn't seem to be enough. I'm hoping I'll get some metformin when I see my doctor next week. Do you think it's still possible that I might ovulate this cycle? My poor hubby is getting worn out from all the BDing... I never thought I'd see the day when he didn't want sex!

Even if you are having a long cycle you might ovulate eventually...I think with pcos women our bodies try over and over again to ovulate until we eventually manage to (or not as the case may be). A lady who recommended inositol said she took it for 5 days and ovulated, she wasn't due to ovulate for another week so really quickly made a difference to her.

Wow that would be brilliant. I will send my hubby out to holland and Barrett's tomorrow.

Thanks for your help. I hope it works for you too.

Thanks. Let me know how you get on. Holland and Barrett sell the capsules in 650mg, so you'd need to take 6 (3 in the morning and 3 in the evening). There is no guarantee of course but it's worth a shot I think even if it helps a little. Xx

It's definitely worth a go. I'll try anything at this stage. Will keep you updated. Let me know how you get on with them too. x

My friend also has PCOS and she had to undergo IVF to have children, sad thing... ;/

The thing about pcos is that it varys widely from person to person, I conceived my son without trying, but I know the fact that I lost 4 stone made it possible. Now I'm onto cycle 2 of trying to conceive another baby, hoping it won't take too long but no way of knowing.

I'm still a long way off IVF. I actually managed to get pregnant last summer by accident while on the pill, but miscarried at 6 weeks, so I know it's possible to get pregnant on my own, though its not likely at the moment.

I'm trying to lose some weight, but I'm not too overweight, my bmi is only just above normal.

I got my inositol today so will give that a go, and hopefully my doctor will give me metformin on Friday.

Sorry to hear about your mc, I had one before I conceived my son... I think I got pregnant with my son 6 months after my mc...I was quite glad it took that long as I don't think I could have handled it sooner, was a nervous wreck.

Good luck with with inositol! Hopefully it will help both of us...I figure its worth a try.

It's definitely worth a try. I'm pretty much giving up on this cycle, but hopefully my doctor will give me provera again and start me on metformin for next cycle. I'm cd 29 with no O! And my hubby has been told he's got to abstain for a whole week before his sperm sample next Tuesday, so it's just not going to happen this month. I'm gutted that the clomid didn't work.

Sounds like you might really benefit from 20-1 cream, which is progesterone cream with added estrogen, I only have my own experiences to go by but 4 days into using the cream I had loads of ewcm and got a positive opk. I think the added estrogen helped me ovulate, I dont know for sure if ovulation occurred as Im not temping and not having blood tests, but all the signs were certainly good. I wouldn't have ovulated for a week or two so I was really surprised that it happened so quickly. Only used it for 1 cycle though so will see what happens this cycle, with the cream and the inositol hopefully it will really get things working better. Will be interesting to see if I ovulate earlier.

Sorry to hear you haven't ovulated yet, hope you do soon. If you want to know more about the cream pm me. xx

Hi Julz, after googling "PCOS" and "Inverness" hoping to find some sort of support group in the area I came across your post :) Do you know if any such groups exist. I have PCOS, and trying to get preg, but trying to lose weight atm. Uphill battle!

I just got diagnosed with PCOS after my last baby. I had two normal cycles and then completely skipped one, my dr took my blood and told me I for sure have PCOS. She gave me Provera to jump start my AF and it worked. She then put me on BC to regulate my AF but I have since decided not to take it bc I can't handle birth control (it makes me MEAN, irritable and tired) plus we were going to actively TTC in a couple months anyway.

She has since put me on Metformin which I will start tonight. I am hoping it will cause me to ovulate and have regular AFs... I've never had a problem (that I knew of) until now!

My FX for you but I have 2 healthy children and my Dr doesn't think PCOS will hurt me having another, she said the medicine out there is great!

I've heard good things about metformin and conceiving. Some pcos women don't have any problems conceiving, I fell twice without even trying (first was an mc though) and I've got all the symptoms going for pcos so always thought I'd have problems. Saying that tried for 5 months and didn't conceive my second so I'm taking a break to lose weight and will try again from March I think.

Good luck, don't let a pcos diagnosis get you done, chances are you will conceive another without a problem.

Thank you cookie! That makes me feel better

I guess the only reason why I feel a little worried this time around is that I am actually skipping periods now, that has never happened to me before! I'm just hoping the metformin will help my AF become somewhat regular again.

I two also have pcos my last period was tne 21st october an still waiting for to show i will be getting sent to fertilty clinic soon as i hope xx

Hey, sorry I just noticed this thread was active again.
Anabanana, I'm afraid I never managed to find a support group in Inverness. I think the nearest I found was an infertility group in fort William! Feel free to pm me and I'll help as much as I can. I really struggled to lose weight and tried all sorts - ended up doing alternate day fasting (which is brutal). It's really hard when you know you're doing everything right and you're still not losing any weight. I eventually ended up losing 18lbs and I got pregnant naturally. I actually got my bfp less than a week after they told me I'd need IVF to conceive. So there is hope!

I've heard great stories about metformin helping to regulate pcos, but sadly the specialist here would not prescribe me it. He said they don't use it here at all. I did eventually manage to convince him to let me try clomid while on the IVF wait list, but we never got that far.
