Can you have a period but not ovulate? Or does it mean you must of ovulated that month if you get ur period?

Just wondering as I've just come on today and last period was march

I have PCOS badly and there were times where I did not ovulate but still had monthly periods. It wasn't until blood work, ultrasound and other testing done that showed that even though I still had periods, I just did not ovulate. about 1 year prior to that, I did not have a period for 4 months after coming off birth control. Thought I was pregnant, turned out it was PCOS, prescribed provera to bring period on, then found out I wasn't ovulating. Talk about one thing after another. Finally only thing that helped me ovulate and keep monthly on track periods was Metformin. Which has helped me get pregnant twice.

hope this helps, and good luck!

Its not that you dont ovulate but the egg doesnt always fully develop thats why we get the cysts. The egg will stay around the ovary and form a cyst, other times the egg will come away fully ripe.

Try OPK's that will tell you when, when the line is as dark as the contral line its +
