Hi everyone, wanted to share a little about my story and see if anyone else has had a similar experience... Looking for a little info and guidance. DH and I have been TTC#1 for a year. In April 2014 I was diagnosed with PCOS after having several 60-70day cycles after coming off BCP. I had two cycles of Provera and clomid, (50mg then 100mg). I ovulated on 50 but not on 100. The only monitoring I had from my Gyno was a 21day prog level. I felt like my situation was not being handled appropriately by my gyno so I made an appointment with a RE and infertility specialist. I really loved my new doc and began to feel a sense of hope that I hadn't felt in several months. Plan was to begin with a US and lab work, then begin a first cycle of Femara. Came back a week later for these tests, and was told after my US that I have a septate uterus. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this? Treatment is to have a resection to remove the extra muscle and tissue. I still have a couple weeks until I meet with my RE for more info, but I'm curious about the procedure and recovery time and when we can start TTC again. I was also started on Synthroid for hypothyroidism... This is no big deal for me in light of the PCOS and septate uterus. Any info or pointers would be greatly appreciated! At this point, I can't let myself hope for pregnancy... I can only focus on correcting the issues as we find out about them, so I hope to have the procedure for the septate uterus as soon as possible.

Thanks and BD to you all!

Hello,

I myself, do not have this problem. But a very close friend of mine does! My friend has Endo (she has a family history with it) and she would go a month or two without AF. When she did get AF, it would last for two weeks and it would be very painful. She finally was fed up because she has told the doctors before that she has a family history with it but they always shrugged her off. Finally, there came a day where she was on AF and had this excruciating cramp..she went to the restroom to check it out. A piece of flesh literally came out of her (sorry if TMI) she was freaking out and called me. She went to the doctors and they told her it was normal! Which her and I found really hard to believe because i've never had anything that or seen anything like that, that looked like that come out of me. Just clots which are the norm. Well, the last time she went to the doctors they let her know that she had a uterine septum!!! She had been to the doctors 3-4 times before that and they NEVER let her know that she had it. And the doctors knew she had it since her first ultrasound which was one of the first times she visited them. She was SO pissed. Long story short, they gave her this medication that stops estrogen production (basically shutting down her ovaries) to help with the Endo and if it 'helps' with the pain then that means she definitely has Endo. As for the uterine septum, they said that they won't do surgery on her to correct it just because..there needs to be a great reason to remove it. She's a high risk for breaching and miscarriages because of this and the Endo. So if you're TTC PLEASE get surgery to correct it. Don't let doctors push you around like they did with my friend!! I hope you're not freaked out with what I said because I never intended to do that, I just wanted to tell you this because I don't want your situation to end up like my friends. So please get it corrected as soon as possible. Baby dust to you! <3

I had 6mc before a septum resection. I was allowed to try again on the 3rd cycle and conceived First month trying

I carried to 27w then suffered a placental abruption:(

Hypothyroidism is a BIG deal, you will struggle to conceive if your tsh isn't right and you must be monitored closely when pregnant

My thyroid had a massive part to play in my miscarriages as I have thyoid antibodies too

Xx

Hope39, I am so sorry for your losses.
I started on 75mcg Synthroid a week ago, so I hope my TSH gets back to normal, my TSH was 3.4 so I'm hopeful that it won't cause too many issues once I'm in the clear to TTC again.

That's not too far out of range, mine was 9 when first diagnosed then 3 months later it was up at 42, took 9 months to get down to below 2

It's about 1 now so fine for ttc

Xx

Hello love! I was diagnosed with a septate uterus December of last year and since then have had 3 surgeries to correct it. My last surgery was Oct 23rd and it was successful, I now have a "normal" uterus. I highly recommend the surgery and recovery isnt bad at all! I was told that I am able to ttc in December

Jennifer,
Can I ask why they had to do 3 surgeries? That's crazy! I did have the septum removed Oct. 31st. Recovery wasn't bad and I was surprised how quickly everything healed. At the same time I also had ovarian drilling, and last week I started my first cycle without having to be medicated! :) I'm good to start TTC next week, hoping these procedures were successful enough for me to conceive soon.
