Hi :hi: I'm just looking for people who may be in a similar situation and want to be buddies. :)

A little about me: My husband and I started trying for a baby in 2011.We were pretty much NTNP until we got married in Sept. 2013. At that point I started tracking my af. They were irregular and had been that way since it started when I was 13. I had brought this up to my OB a few times throughout my teens and early 20's, but was told it was "normal". In 2014 I started temping and using ovulation strips. After a few months of no positives and my charts being all over the place I decided to find a new OB to get a different opinion. After checking all my hormone levels she referred me to an endocrinologist as she suspected PCOS. After all the tests my endocrinologist confirmed that I did have PCOS. Finally answers!! He put me on metformin and referred to a fertility specialist. In May of 2015 I started a monitored femara cycle. They did internal ultrasounds every few days to check follicle growth. I ended up ovulating a little later than they had thought I would, but finally there were 2 mature follicles and I got a positive ovulation test a day later for the first time ever. Yay! My bloodwork confirmed ovulation, however my progesterone was super low so I was put on progesterone suppositories. I ended up with a bfp a few days later :cloud9: I had slow rising hcg, which was another worry. It all worked out though and 9 months later I gave birth to my daughter.

So here we are again trying for #2! After having Emma we decided not to prevent at all as we were ok with it happening naturally. However, its been a year and a half with no luck and we really want her to have a sibling somewhat close to her age so we thought it was time to get some help. I did have an ultrasound done about 2 months back that showed my ovaries are covered in "cysts". I have an appointment next week and the plan is to start femara as soon as my next cycle starts. I'm excited, but also a bit nervous. I'm just hoping and praying things go well!

I know that this was long so if you read through thanks!

Hi :hi:

I'm in a similar position to you. I'm also TTC#2 and have been since January 2016. I have a 4 year old and wanted a 3 year age gap but mother nature seems to have other ideas :dohh:

It took 11 months to get pregnant with DS, during that time I had a mc and a chemical and just put it down to bad luck. After TTC for 6 months with no luck I went to see my GP and after some tests I found out I have PCOS.

I was put on metformin and then on clomid, I'm on my 4th cycle of clomid now and have awful side effects. Me and DH have been given 6 cycles of clomid and then after that our only option will be IVF which we just can't afford :nope:

It's such a stressful time TTC isn't it! Is femera similar to clomid?

Good luck with TTC and if you want a buddy feel free to message me :)

I have PCOS and am 9 weeks pregnant with number 2! I had no periods for 6 months from Jan 2014 and was diagnosed with PCOS, then put on Clomid. Cycle 1 I had a chemical, cycle 3 got my BFP! This time round we were just testing Clomid again to see if was going to make me O and clearly did as I got my BFP first cycle!

Good luck, I know it's stressful but PCOS doesn't mean much once you're on the right meds...xx

Laura- Congrats! So glad you found what works for you. :)

Bella- Mother nature can be a jerk sometimes! I told my doctor the other day that the part of infertility I struggle with the most is the fact I can't just keep it a private thing between my husband and I then let mother nature take it's course.

I don't know much about Clomid as I have never personally taken it. Femara (Letrozole) works by suppressing estrogen and in turn the brain/pituitary gland increases the output of FSH. The doctor I saw for my daughter said that she prescribed it first because she had found that the women she prescribed it to seemed to have less side effects than clomid and Femara is known to have a lower chance of having multiples. Of course everyone is different so I would have moved to clomid if the Femara had failed. For #2 I'm going through my normal OB and they mentioned clomid, but I asked for the femara due to the fact it was successful the first time. Do they offer Femara as an option where you are? Might be something to ask about if you wanted to try something else.

And Yes, TTC is sooo stressful!!

Wow Laura that is amazing. Congratulations! :)

Yes it can be a jerk Jules. It really gets me down. Femara sounds so much better than Clomid! The side effects of Clomid are horrible and I'm terrified of getting pregnant with twins.

My consultant said a few months ago I could try an alternative to Clomid so maybe that's what she was meaning x

I'm sorry the side effects are horrible. Hopefully they are worth it though!

When I took Femara I did have some hot flashes and moody, but it wasn't too bad.

The Clomid made me suicidal last time I took it so that's why I decided to take a break. Not felt that way this time thank God x

How scary! I'm glad your not feeling that way this time around.

My mood fluctuates a lot when my hormones are going crazy. Crying over nothing, getting over angry about nothing, mood swings, etc. These medications, as awesome as they are for those of us who need them, cause hormones to fluctuate in ways our bodies aren't used to so I'm sure that attributes to those sort of side effects.

Yes that is true! Hopefully we won't need to be on the meds much longer:)
