Hi all,

Sorry I feel a bit of a fake posting in lttc, but I think there will be more ladies able to help here.

We are ttc#2 and have been for 8months. I last had a pelvic scan 2yrs ago along with bloods and it confirmed I had poly cystic ovaries - but due to only having irregular cycles docs say its not quiet classed as pcos.

Anyway, since having baby#1 my cycles have got worse, so I've had bloods done on day 1 of my cycle and all was normal. Cd13 I had a pelvic scan and the lady who was carrying it out said I have a large follicle on my left ovary which looks like its going to release an egg (should I have an egg in there)

Today is cd23 - my question to you all is, if I had a large follicle then when would/should I expect it to pop an egg?

We bd cd5, 8, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21 and will do tonight (Xmas come early for hubby!! ;). So think we have covered all bases on that front..... Should we carry on every other night to be sure?

If you don't mind the pressure of BD'ing that often, then by all means continue. If you had a scan on cd13 and she said it was about to pop, it's probable that it has already. But there's always the saying, "better safe then sorry."

But my advice for next cycle (assuming you don't get preggo this month) would be to use OPK's and start using them 4 days before the earliest you have ever O'ed. For example, if the shortest cycle you have ever had was 27 days and the average luteal phase is 14 days, then you would have O'ed around day 13, so you should start using the OPKs on cd 9 or 10. If you only test once a day, then you should use them at the same time each day in the afternoon (once a day is fine for most, some have short surges).

So none of your bloods showed out of whack hormone levels? Was it only the scan that showed PCO?

Also, do you remember the size of the follicle? Did she tell you? Cause there is such thing as too large and that could just be a cyst, but I would think that she would've told you if it was that large. Also, I don't know if a normal size follicle always has to have an egg in it, but I would think so. I think it's just a mater of it's mature enough or too mature/old.
