Yeah, pretty much. They wait until you're 7 weeks so that they're sure to see the heartbeat and the measurements are easier and there's less guesswork as to whether baby is measuring on-track or too small.
I've been scanned at 6+2 and 6+4, but I was also bleeding heavily and passing pea-sized clots both of those times and we all suspected I was miscarrying. One was a vanishing twin, the other was an SCH. It didn't make me feel any better, seeing them that early, but that's probably because I had on-going bleeding.
