Mine was planned, and the experience was lovely.
I don't remember how long between being stitched up, and getting to hold the baby - i think i fell asleep as they were stitching me up as I don't remember actually leaving the OR and coming into the room! lol!
As soon as I was in the room, I had the baby.
Yes, you are uncomfortable but it doesn't hurt to hold the baby. I'm sure it all depends on how you're sitting. Same goes with the breastfeeding - just have to find the position that works best.
My scar is about 6-7 inches. hidden under my underwear. And it healed so nicely. for the getting back to pre-baby weight, I believe it takes longer as you have to wait 6 weeks before you're supposed to be doing anything really.
As for the holding - it didn't hurt to hold him. Getting up and down was what hurt me - you never realize how much you use your stomach muscles until you've had a surgery like that! Keep in mind, they don't want you carrying anything other than the baby for 6 weeks normally!
