petits filous yoghurt

My LO has been on these since she was 4.5 months and loves them, I usually buy the 12 pack of fruity yogurts from Lidl at £1.50, they are just the same, my LO would happily eat two after her cereal in the morning and stares at me if I eat one so I end up feeding her as well :haha: My LO now eats everything I eat (except for extra spicy curries) and loves everything, though I still feed her jars :)

Petits filous is the only sugary thing that LO has, and even then its one every few days after his dinner!

I wouldn't be too concerned about the sugar in petits filous, you could give them a lot worse!

Petits filous are not yoghurts at all but a kind of soft cheese they have none of the health benefits (friendly bacteria etc) that yoghurts have xx

I prefer my kids to have things with sugar in, than hidden/fake sugars. I tend to avoid sugar free things actually.

My son is 5.5 months and my paediatrician has OK'd him to have petit filous.

I agree with you, I do avoid 'sugar free' things and would rather my children had sugar than artificial sweeteners.

However, there are yoghurts on the market that are sweetened with fruit puree only, so nothing hidden or fake there. :)

Well, i skipped the petits filous idea and went for some natural yoghurt with some fruit puree. He had a bit of it but he's not feeling himself at the moment, he has cold the cold and a cough. Im going to try him again in a few days.

We used to use the plum ones, they were £1.99 for 6, I got them because they have no added sugar etc, but I give him the value ones now which are 45p for 6 fromage frais I am careful about what he eats and he will only have max 1 a day so it doesn't bother me too much if he has some sugar from a fromage frais, I buy the little stars ones too when they are on offer,
I try to give him a mix or fromage frais and yoghurts too x

I decided to buy some of the value ones out of ASDA and he loves them!!

Where would i get the little star's one's?

I gave my 6months old a petit filou for the first time the other day and I thought he was going to burst with happiness! He was loving it:thumbup:

We get a big pot of the natural yoghurt and mix it with whatever we want. I don't have fruit puree in the house so I tend to mix a bit of chopped fruit or jam in or some honey now the kids can both have that. I guess jam isn't ideal but you can control exactly how much you add so I think it's better than getting ones already stuffed full of sugar. I like that you don't need to make them as sweet as the kiddy yoghurts. I don't mind the kids having sugar or sweet stuff at all, but I hope they will appreciate things that aren't always so sweet, if that makes sense?

It's also really good to have natural yoghurt in the fridge! We use it in all sorts... most popular is as a dip - mix a cupful with a tiny splodge of mint sauce or chopped coriander for an instant cooling dip for spicy food, or mix it with soft cheese and a bit of mayo/salad cream for a nice dip for with veg sticks. The kids actually eat more yoghurt with savoury foods than as sweet yoghurt. It's a good way to get extra calcium into them, as well as veg!

With my son I did the Plum baby ones but I have less money now so have been giving my daughter Morrison value fromage frais at 46p for 6. They have sugar in of course but I don't find them as sweet as some of the other yogurt/fromage frais aimed at kids. I tried her with natural yogurt and fruit puree but she wasn't keen. I could never get my son to eat it either.

Yeah I hear you about the cost of the plum ones. Ruby eats two and Scarlett one, that's half the pack gone at one mealtime!
