Someone told me today that I cant eat philli or cottage cheese? Is this right? Ive been eating philli loads, i love it!

Philadelphia is totally safe!
However, just because it says pasteurised on a mould-ripened cheese (such as brie and some goats cheeses) does not make them safe. You should still avoid them. Equally, hard cheeses such as cheddar are fine even when they are not pasteurised.
If I understood it correctly, this is because the production of hard cheeses involves a certain temperature that kills off listeria bacteria. Soft mould ripened cheeses may have been made with pasteurised milk but the mould-ripenening process (which is not at a high temperature in order to keep the cheese soft) can reintroduce listeria bacteria to the cheese.
