Pie, Mash & Liquor?

Has anyone ever had it?

My friend is planning on serving it at her wedding (Dont ask lol) and i just googled it

It sounded nice until i got to the bit about water from distilled eels or something.

It cant be that bad can it?

This is what it says

The main dish sold is pie and mash — a minced beef pie and mashed potato. It is common for the mashed potato to be spread around one side of the plate and for a type of parsley sauce called liquor (although it is non-alcoholic) to be added. Liquor traditionally has a green colour which is not from food colouring but the parsley. It is also traditionally made using the water kept from the preparation of the stewed eels.

It looks REVOLTING - there used to be a pie and mash shop in my town and my mums friend had a shop upstairs from it, everyone in the family used to go and get pie/mash and liquor and ewww. The pie and mash = nice. liquor = yuck. Never tried it, but never would because it looks just like it sounds, yuck!!

I'm glad everyone I know is Italian Canadian pretty much.. and my boyfriend's family is Italian. Means no weird food at my wedding hehe.

I have to say the photo doesn't make it look THAT bad, but the way it sounds like from how you described it I was picturing something horrifying, ugly, and similar to witch's brew with the eel stuff and all.

I HATE meat pies, lol. Is there a vegetarian option??

Ok, this is one time that I'm glad I don't live in the UK! LOL Is that a bad St. Patrick's Day experiment? That is almost as bad as my grandfather trying to get me to eat haggus as a kid!!! Thank goodness at 3 I was smart enough not to fall for it!! LOL
