Piggy nose :(

I am a little worried about Scarlett's picture from yesterday (2nd pic). I showed MIL before and she said 'she's got a piggy nose hasn't she?'

I know it isn't the most flattering picture but do ultrasounds distort the faces at all or is this what she will actually look like now she is more developed? Her eyelids looked so big too. Her nose looked perfect in her 20 week scan, (first pic)..do you think she is still beautiful?

Awww I feel so bad talking about her like this, I love her so much.

Pay no mind. You can't tell a thing about what the baby looks like from ultrasound pictures. All you're really seeing is the harder tissue so you really have no idea what the nose will look like unless you get a 4D scan or see the baby when it's born. What a silly thing for you MIL to say.

awwwwwww of course she'll still be beautiful and what can a scan picture of your insides show???? She'll have skin and hair when you meet her don't worry and take MIL's comments with a pinch of salt, I'll bet she didn't realise she'd said anything hurtful X

Think from the side view she has a cute little nose... I wouldnt worry about the straight on one.. also baby's all have big eyes.. it's one of the things that grows the least as we grow up. Plus your only 28 weeks.. she's still got a lot of growing and "fat" to put on.
I'm sure she'll be adorable with such a cute profile.
We're getting a 3d/4d scan this weekend to see our little one... could be something for you to do too since you'll get a great look at her. My doula said on her baby she compaired the 3d/4d pics with her baby after it was born and it was a great match for it.

Aww I think her side profile is adorable. And most straight on 2D photos look awful. My daughter's made her look like a halloween decoration! But we did the 4D and she was completely normal looking. I'm sure your LO will be beautiful.

she is gorgeous and take no notice you cant tell of an ultrasound (unless its a 4D one) i am sure she will have a gorgeous cute little perfect nose when she is born x

Please don't waste your money on a 4d scan if you can't spare it. It's not important! Your baby is beautiful and so what if she has a piggy nose??? Mine has freaky long alien fingers!!! It's all cute.
But it's soooo early yet and they haven't much fat. Honestly my little girl looks like a wrinkly old man at mo with alien hands lol love her

She won't look much like the scan by time she's out and showing off her lovely nose!! Buy what you need don't waste little cash you have on other people's stupid comments.

Hun, if it makes you feel any better I've never seen anyone in real life that has a "pig nose" the chances of her having one is probably very slim. Especially since her profile picture is just fine, I highly doubt if her nose was well formed then, that it could just randomly change shape, which I also have NEVER heard of a nose doing. She is going to be so beautiful and perfect in every way!

Mine had a piggy nose even in her 4D scan because her face was jammed up against the placenta. So not even that's a guarantee!

I tend to think even if she comes out with her face looking like it's pressed up against a wall (which I know she won't ) I'll still think she's the cutest thing ever!

I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree with the above post- we are having a 4d scan tomorrow because we can afford it but if we couldn't then I'd not even think about it. Plus, if you did have a scan, you can't change what the baby looks like anyway. She'll look lovely when she's here, just like all cute newborn babies!

Your baby won't have a pig nose!! I have a hard time looking at my daughters us photo because she looks like a kitty with a really big eye that goes off of her face. I was told not to worry about it and that it was just the tech zooming in to get her open eye. I'll post that photo for you.

Don't worry. I remember my son's sono. Oh gosh, his face looks all distorted that my mom actually thought he was disfigured. I told her that these pics don't do babies justice whatsoever. My son did NOT come out all smashed looking. He was gorgeous. Don't worry hon. And even if she does have a nose that turns up, she still looks beautiful

Yeah I agree, the ultrasound pictures don't come close! My sons last ultrasound 3 days before he was born showed him with huge Mick Jagger lips that stuck straight out. DH even asked me if the baby was even his as the lips were HUGE (he was joking). My baby's lips are perfectly normal and I'm sure your LOs nose is just perfectly cute. Besides, all baby's noses are a bit pug like when born so they can breastfeed and still breathe. Then they take their real shape a few years later.

My 34 week face shot looks very distorted too, and the technician told me its cause they're pretty much out of space, and her face is smushed up against the uterine wall. LOL So maybe that's why her nose is kind of squishy?

I'm sure she'll be completely adorable when you finally get to meet her.

I knew it wasn't the best pic of her and wasn't too bothered really because I knew her growth had gone to normal and that was my main focus, but for that piggy nose comment off my MIL, there is just no need.

Makes it worse that BIL has not long had a baby and she probably thinks he is perfect and mine is just a pig.

I have been looking into cheaper scans anyway, which financially is doable because I am saving £90 on my furniture now. I am certainly not going back to Babybond, they are far too expensive. xx

i believe your baby has her nose pushing against the placenta or womb, they appear like this in the 4D scan when there isnt enough water infront of the face the 4d ultrasound tech was explaing it to me cause she wouldnt get her nose out of the placenta to allow the water infront of it and the way the ultrasounds work they need the water or the scan goes right through it making it look "piggy" if tht makes sense. my baby took her nose away from my placenta for a while so i could see the difference xx

Don't waste your money on a scan, however cheap it might be. save the money for when you are struggling to manage on SMP and you want to get a couple of more weeks at home before you are forced to return to work. Not having a scan could give you an extra week of maternity leave.

The ultrasound can't tell you what her nose will look like. To be honest, it doesn't actually matter what her nose looks like so long as she has one and can use it successfully for breathing. Your scan has shown that your baby is healthy so don't waste money on a scan just to look at her nose. As others have said, it will all be a bit squashy in there from now on anyway.
