I have great insurance they cover up to $50,000 for infertility. well today I called them to ask them about what they cover for donnor eggs. I knew they wouldn't cover the fee for that but today they told me they wont even cover to have the egg implanted in me. They don't consider early stage of menopause infertility. Am I nuts because if im not producing eggs isn't that infertility? I really want to fight them on this i think it's absurd, i know i have to pay for the donnor but I feel they should cover for the surgery on my part? Am I wrong?

thanks ladies

first of all, so sorry you are having to go through this but don't lose hope and certainly don't let the insurance company get the better of you. you've got to be smart with them...what i mean is, see a specialist/doctor that has your back. you need written confirmation from a specialist that this IS infertility treatment you are required and not the result of possible menopause. i hope it's not too late e.g. you haven't filled out a signed form to them stating the treatment is needed due to result of menopause because that could raise issues. is there a chance your doc can help you with this, stating that such treatment is needed because of particular fertility issues that they have found (stay clear of using the word menopause).

insurance companies always try to find ways out of not having to pay. get back to reading the small print, enquire on line in forums to see how others have found a way around this. best of luck :hugs:

Suma,

Thanks so much I was hoping the same with my ins. we dont have to pre certify till the I.V.F OR any procedure is started IM going on Wed to speak to him Im praying he will help us but tech it's fraud so he may not wish me luck thanks again

I hope you can fight them, like the previous poster says insurance companies are always trying to get out of paying. hopefully some other ladies on here will have some insight.

you are lucky you have coverage though, I dont have anything and would have to pay for the total sum out of pocket
