So was wondering if anyone else has had this. I honestly never heard of this and now I have it. They say its where there are pockets or small lakes of blood have collected in the placenta. They noticed it on an ultrasound I had to have yesterday.
I had been having back pain and cramping for about a week now, and then yesterday i had some spotting called my doctor and was told go to the ER. Went nervous thinking i was having a miscarriage. But was told i have a urinary tract infection and the placental lakes. I'm only 17 weeks 6 days.
When the doctor came into the room and told me that i had the lakes, she told me they normally lead to nothing. But I had to be on moderate bedrest till monday when i go back to see my doctor so he can check them again. She said that this is something that would have to be checked on a weekly basis.
I'm nervous I would like to know if anyone has had this and what happened? What do i need to expect ?? And is 17 weeks to early for these to appear??

Hey,
I'm really sorry but I've never heard of these, but didn't want to read and run. I really hope it's nothing serious and is quickly sorted out for you chick x

I kno u posted this a while ago, but i recently had my 18 wk scan and was also told i have lakes. I was just wondering how ur pregnancy and birth went. Also how u and the baby r doing. :)

I've not experienced this sorry but I did have to spend 6 weeks on bedrest when my waters broke at 14 weeks. Relax as best as you can, bedrest is boring but well worth it x x x

Ah just realised it's an old thread. Josi good luck Hun I'm sure it will all be fine xx

Thank u! Im praying it will! Hope all is well with you and your little one!

Hugs. I'm not 100% certain but it sounds like a sub placental hematoma (like a subchorionic hematoma. I had a sub chorionic since week 8 and hoping it will have finally gone at my 21 week scan (it wasn't 1 week ago...) hugs! I understand how scary of a time it can be but definitely listen to the bed rest as its been a huge help to me.
