Hi ladies. So last week on my 7 week u/s my doc noticed a small placental lake and said it was totally normal and not to worry about it. However, this week, on my 8 week scan, the placental lake has grown threefold into a bit of a sea  Dr. Google agrees with my doc that it's within the normal realm of things to get placental lakes, but I can't help but be a bit nervous since it's grown so much in a week. Anyone in my shoes?

A search of these forums didn't return too many posts on placental lakes, especially in the first trimester, so I started a new thread. Then again, I know that my doctor is in the minority with his weekly ultrasounds weeks 6-9 so maybe no one else is catching this phenomenon?

Just in case anyone finds this thread in the future and is in the same shoes I was in last week, the placental lake totally disappeared at this week's scan. No sign of it! Just like the doctor said, the body took care of it and everything is back to looking normal and great.

Yay! I'm glad it was of use :happydance:
PS Love your avatar pic!

Thanks for this info. I just had a scan at 18 weeks and I have a placental lake. I wasn't told if it was a bad or good thing. So I'm hoping it will clear up!

I have a friend who also had placental lakes and is due in about 2 weeks. So not to worry!! :)

My little one is 12 weeks old now and perfect! So definitely nothing to worry about
