i just got my date today for my elective section im having one due to severe anxiety after my last naturel birth.. i am booked in for the 14th march 2012 and im looking forward to it im just worried about going into labour before then lol.. i have had 2 naturel births before this baby and i am certain im making the right choice .. have any of you booked an elective section??? im also going to be sterelised during the section as i dont want anymore children as this pregnancy has been so bad i could not cope with the anxiety again are any of you considering sterelisation???::thumbup::cloud9:

I had an elective section after a very traumatic first birth, I was in labour for 2 days and ended up being stitched inside and out and on and on..... it was horrific - took me 10 years to have another so I opted for a Csection with her and it was wonderful.

I also had an elective with my 3rd and again it was a lovely birth.

Good luck xx

I'm having an elective section also. I too am worried about going into labour before the surgery date, but I figure all I can do is think positive and send lots of "stay put!" vibes to this baby ;)

im having my 3rd c/s also i planning on getting sterilised during the op . :flower:

i am also having an elective due to a previous traumatic birth and due to worries ive had since my stillbirth even though i have had a successful vaginal delivery after that. Its more the anxiety and guilt that i cant cope with an the fear of something terrible happening again and after weighing up all my options i feel less guilty going for a c section as i feel personally its safer for baby, consultant agrees too and would be more comfortable if i had c section rather than attempt my 3rd vbac.
also considering sterilistaion as i dont want to face these fears again and its only in pregnancy where im forced to face them, but it all seems so final so still deciding on that!

Seeing my consultant weds to get my date for section, but he wont sterilize me as he says its not always 100 % guaranteed, as they only cut 1" of ur tubes, then everything shrinks back after surgery, theres a chance ur tubes could shrink also and rejoin!!! Said id wait 3 months then have it done in day surgery, if im doing it i want it done properly lol x

I had an elective section 7 weeks ago due to severe anxiety (this was my first baby!) and it was the most amazing experience.
As it is a planned section, i felt things were so much more relaxed - i was able to get up on the morning and go into hospital totally chilled out, knowing that my baby was going to be delivered that day.

He certainly was, after a 40min pain free c-section.

I'm having an elective section and also being sterilised as 3 children is plenty for me x

ah thanks ladies for sharing iv only 4 weeks to go until my wee man is delivered by c section... this is also my 3rd baby and i am so sure i want the tubel ligation.. he said he would do both tubes.. im looking forward to going into hospital on the morning and knowing what is coming... and looking forward to knowing all my worries are taken away.. i just hope and pray that he stays in there for the next 4 weeks...

Wantapink. We are on the same day! Im having elective at the lansdell for my first ( and last) baby.
Im not getting sterilized tho as this was a miracle isci baby !
C section due to fear( i witnessed some terrible births as a student) and family history of severe prolapse problems.

Hello, just wanted to post my positive experience of a c-section, so here goes. I had to have a c-section due to a long term illness and for me it was the best thing. I was due to have it early September, but my baby had other plans and so when my waters broke early on 24 August my section was brought forward to that day. I was a bit anxious at first, but so excited too. I can honestly say the whole experience from start to finish was great, the staff were brilliant and very professional, especially considering I was now an emergency section rather than a planned one. The worst bit was probably having the spinal block as it feels a bit weird, but not painful for me. I had no idea when they had started to cut until they told me and then it all felt like someone trying to do the washing up inside me, weird again but not painful. My baby was born about 15 mins later and it was amazing to finally see him. They gave him to me as soon as they could and then the whole stitching up took about 40 mins, but to be honest I hardly noticed that either as so emotional holding my baby. My recovery was great too, I was walking as soon as I could (later that day) and was driving after 2 weeks. I would definitely recommend getting up and about as soon as you can as it will help loads, although my scar still pinched occasionally for a while. Will definitely have to have another c-section if I have another baby and am almost looking forward to it!! Good luck to everyone due to have one soon x
