... is this a wise idea?

If all goes well with baby and we're given all clear we plan to fly to Barcelona for a week at the end of June. Anyone else flown this early? Got tips? DH is a pilot and worried about ear drum damage.

What makes your OH worry about ear drum damage?

I started travelling long haul (Dubai-Scotland) at 5 weeks. I believe most airlines say babies can travel from 2 weeks, so at 2 months you'll be fine.

I dunno, cabin pressure, but think that only counts with smaller planes anyhow - basically he's mr paranoid about everything!

We went to Turkey when Dylan was only 10 weeks old
and he was great hun,
I don't think you have anything to worry about. xx:)

We went when Hannah was 4.5 months and I think it would have been easier early on because she slept a heck of a lot more!

Try getting LO to feed when your taking off and landing so s/he wont start crying with ear discomfort caused by pressure

Hi

Are you Breastfeeding or bottlefeeding? I only ask because im not sure how strict the laws are still at airports regarding liquids.
Also it would be a good idea giving him his bottle when the plane starts descending just to be on the safe side to prevent his ears hurting. I have had a painful experience myself with my ears once its not nice.
Are you aware that some airlines provide skycots which attach to the wall so you could put him in there when he's asleep to have a little break! and your carseat and buggy wont count as baggage allowance with most airlines either which is good.

If LO takes a soother than that won't be a problem. :) Hannah is attached to her soother unfortunately but it did help on the plane

I'm hoping to BF but my have some issues with that due to baby being in SCBU for a couple of weeks.

I've read too that you should feed them on take off and landing.

I've been checking airline regulations and it seems with taking formula on you have to taste it going through check-in. However Boots at Heathrow sell formula airside and you can phone up and book it in advance to make sure they have it. Even if I can't BF I'll hopefully be able to express... just hope breast milk doesn't taste too gross!

We're going to turkey over easter hun, when Halle will be 11 weeks old, should be fine! :happydance:

2 months is a nice age to travel as lo should still sleep a lot and not be too affected by a change in surroundings.
