My LO turned 2 in September, he had the happyland plane for his birthday and he's not really played with it that much. However he's got a playmobil police helicopter, boat and car that we got from a car boot sale and he seems to enjoy playing with that so much more and seems to like the fact that you can move the arms and legs of the figures and take off their hats. While I know that really he's too young for the playmobil, we of course supervise him playing with it.
But initially for christmas I was going to get him a couple more happyland play sets but now I'm just debating whether he'll get more use out of playmobil?
I've looked at the playmobil suitable for his age but it doesn't seem as good. Lol.
What would you ladies recommend?
Do any of you have young children that have playmobil?

Have you looked at the playmobil 123 range? They tend to have 18+ month age recommendations on them.

We have a playmobil 123 set and although it's a lot simpler than the normal range both my girl love it. It gets played with almost every day and we will be getting them more this year.

Regular Playmobil is very, very small and comes with tiny accessories. You have the option to buy a Playmobil set and take away the smallest pieces if you prefer. You could also buy secondhand from eBay so you could only buy the bits you want. I am building my son a collection of Playmobil animals this way.

My son is three and a half but due to autism and developmental delays has a functioning age of 21-24 months. We do Playmobil but he only plays with it supervised.

I will be getting him the bus for his birthday, that might be a good one to go for as it has minimal small pieces.

This set has minimal small pieces as well although you may want to be careful with the food.

If you go to the Playmobil website, look under accessories. You can essentially build your own set to your requirements. It does come unboxed though.

were a big fan of happyland, both my kids have loved it, my daughter who turned 3 in april still does, however my son who is 5 is now starting to liek the look of playmobil so we have bought him a big knight castle for christmas as that was something else he seemed to be interested in.

to be fair we never looked at the younger playmobil stuff as happyland was always a huge hit in our house, and the normal playmobil had such small bits so we always voted happyland until the were at he age to play nice and look after small bits.

if you can get the playmobil suited for a younger age and thats what he enjoys playing with the most id go for that :)

Depends on your child really. My dd is completely fine with tiny pieces and has never attempted to put hings in her mouth. She has a few of the lego sets which say age 6+ and have tiny little pieces in them. I would go for playmobil, hands down (we are getting her a couple of bits for Christmas too)

Personally I prefer the Playmobil but it does depend on your child. I love how detailed they can be.

playmobil here sam was never into happy land as the people don't move etc :)

Happyland here. Jess has had happy land stuff since 16 months old and still plays with it. I've ordered her playmobil now for xmas as she is a bit older and think she will like that more, but I'd defo recommend happy land. She especially loves the bus, the treehouse and moon house

My son outgrew happy land earlier this year so we have gone for playmobil

he got the 123 zoo last Christmas and loves it

we are going for the normal playmobil this birthday and christmas as he is fine with tiny pieces and he likes a lot of detail

for his birthday he has got playmobil penguin set a man with a motor bike a recycling Truck a christmas living room and christmas merry go round from us and from my mum he has got playmobil Santa sleigh set

the reason he has gotten christmas Playmobil for birthday is so that he can play with it the lead up to Christmas

for christmas my mum has got the big nursery school set for him and we have got him the family camper van and a penguin set

We have a mixture of playmobil and playmobil 123 and both boys enjoy both although DS2 doesn't play unsupervised with the playmobil kitchen with all it's teeny tiny food, cutlery etc

We have everything! I like the happy land for the fairies etc but prefer playmobil 123 for the little people and both my girls, although will happily play with the happy land they love the playmobil - some sets have lots of small bits and others don't, you can always take out the small pieces xx

I like both but prefer Playmobil. DD has some of the 123 range and it's really good, i'm sure she'll play with it for a good while yet. I'm not getting her any of the normal playmobil this christmas (she'll only just be 2) but I imagine I will next year.

We love happyland but have got DD a playmobil set for this Christmas :)

Zack has the Happyland zoo, dinosaur set and fire engine which he has just started to love now that he is being more imaginative with playing. For Christmas/birthday I have got him the cottage and my mum has got him the farm, vet, bus, ambulance and train set with lots of wee people and animals (she got it all second hand in perfect condition for £30, bargain!). I do really like the look of the playmobil though and I think for his birthday/christmas next year I will get him some playmobil :). x
