I had my 6 week scan (ivf baby) today and they couldn't see the sac in my lining. They said the lining was thick which indicated pregnancy and it may be too early but I feel so worried. Any good success stories? I really need them.

Had bloods waiting for result tomorrow then will have again on Monday.

Did the do a transvaginal ultrasound? It should have showed something...maybe its too early....I have my six week scan on Monday ill tell u if I see anything..

'Should have showed sonethibg' not very reassuring. I was after some comfort not further worries. Think about what you say to people.

Well hun you might be earlier then you think you are. At my 6 week scan they saw thickening (like you) and they saw a tiny yolk sac. They almost missed it. I went back in 2 weeks and saw everything I wanted to see. My little baby with a heart beat. I was scared out of my mind because I previously had a blighted ovum.

Also , when I went back when I was supposed to be 8 weeks I found out I was only 7 weeks 1 day so that means when they tried to scan me I was only 5 weeks 1 day.

Oh and if you were only 6 weeks and 0 days , in some women that is still to early to see something. Try not to worry. Are you scheduled for another ultrasound?

Hello, I agree totally with Beyond. Although last time I went for different reasons (i was bleeding) what the doctor said by my lmp being 7weeks wasnt the case i was only 5weeks at the time. So maybe you have just implanted later and your dates are wrong. Don't lose hope.

If your dates are off and you're actually somewhere in the 5 week area then it's totally possible it wouldn't show anything at this point. Where I am they don't scan until 7w because earlier (especially 5+w) you often don't see anything - then it causes tons of unnecessary worry, and you just end up needing a re-scan a week or 2 later. The blood tests will give a good indication of how things are going until you can see more via ultrasound though! Keep us updated and lots of hugs! :hugs:

Hi Baby Me,

We had a scan on Tuesday to check for Ectopic due to my previous history, had the all clear & were dated at 6 weeks.... Saw the sac, yolk & featal pole & this was with a normal scan & then a transvaginal one... I suppose they have taken your bloods to see what ur HCG Is & too see If they are doubling, with a HCG of over 1500 - 2000 they should see something In utero... If they said It was early then It might just be taking Its time to show on a scan.... Honestly don't know what else to say but keep yourself occupied until you get results tomorrow, I know It's hard been there myself..... X

Hi Baby Me,

How have you worked out you are 6 weeks? Is it the date from egg collection or egg transfer as that's a 5 day difference there.

I had a FET this cycle and I calculated I was 6 weeks last Friday when I had my scan and they saw the sac and yoke. I was expecting to see the heart beat but the doctor said I was around 5 weeks.
I think it depends on implantation and how quickly baby grows which is why we end up so disappointed.

Are they doing another scan on you?
I'm sure baby is just waiting for a growth spurt!

I had my first ultrasound internal and they saw nothing also. I worried like crazy until I had my next one 10 days later. Had my quant hcg drawn went 7600-13000 in 48 hrs. I was somewhat relieved but needed to actually see baby. On my ultrasound 10 days later there was my lovely precious baby, heartbeat and all. Have hope, you were probably just too early. Dont stress youself and stay away from googling it. Keep us posted!

i understand your upset. but people offer advice, text has never been good at showing empathy.

At my six week scan there was a yolk sac and fetal pole. Ur dates may be off. Hope my honesty/experience doesn't offend.

When I went for my scan last week, I thought I was 6-7 weeks pregnant based on my lmp. All that the ultrasound technician saw was a tiny yolk sac measuring 5 weeks and she said it was too early to see anything and is having me come back on the 19th. I also had blood drawn this morning and that will come back to my doctor on the 17th, so I'll go back then and be able to hopefully get some reassurance. I was a little freaked out too but I think it's important to stay positive and not assume the worst or let your fears get the better of you. Your body is doing amazing things and there is probably no cause for worry! Try to do what I'm doing... just keep positive thoughts, talk to your baby (even though like my little ticker says, it's only the size of a blueberry at the moment) keep yourself busy, etc., and then your next scan should come around in no time and you will probably find you're progressing nicely! I've heard of this happening with so many women. Keep hope! :hugs:

I believe she asked was it a transvaginal ultrasound as that should show something, had u said no it was external that would have answered alot of qs

I agree. Understandable that your upset. Many of us have been in your position but I do think the lady was asking you a relevant question which you have interpretted as an insensitive one. She did say a TV scan SHOULD show something, not DEFINATELY WOULD show sonething.

Yes, I was NOT Trying to OFFEND by all means. Just giving advice and asking a question!! Sorry If i did, but you did ask for our opinions. I had a 5 week transvaginal last week and it only showed a sac which it should always, no baby or anything because it too early...Monday I have another internal which the doctor said should show yok sac and fetal pole....So either your dates are wrong or they didnt do an internal. You will hardly see a thing if it was an abdominal ultrasound

P.S. They originally did an external at the start and they did not see a thing! No sac, no nothing, thats why I asked did you have a transvaginal ultrasound. Transvaginal will show ten times more and which it did

Hmm I'm trying not to make a comment that will result in thread poster exploding at me too. 6weeks should have showed something not just thickening although that 'Something' is very small and can be missed. My scan at 6w1d showed sac, yolk and fetal pole on my first pregnancy but just a sac at 6w4d on this one.

I had an early scan but at 7 weeks and 4 days, the ultrasound lady asked me to sign a consent form to do an Internal if the baby/sack couldnt be found through an External. Both are visible on the TV screen!

Luckily for myself the external showed a sack and a blob (that is all it looked like with a little flicker which was the heartbeat).... I'm hoping they offered you an internal!? Please keep us updated on your progress. Positive thoughts xxx

I did a scan was too early my periods are very irregular so they were claiming I was 7weeks which I knew I wasn't, So when I got the ultrasound done they didn't see anything but my thick lining and my courpus (sp) something...lol (i cant remember how to spell so its hard for me to research it to get the correct spelling)which on my right right ovary and that is normal for early pregnancy. All they could see was a tiny black spot and they said that was the gestational sac forming so you could just have a late implantation. It happens but not to stress and worry to much about!

Hey hunny. I did IVF as well. 5+3 today. I have my first scan booked for Monday at 5+5. Doctor says that it definitely may be too early to see anything and not to freak out if they can't find the pregnancy. (IVF babies can often take a couple extra days to show up because they often implant later than au naturale babies.) My hCG has doubled correctly over the last couple weeks, but I implanted late and am not even going to get to hCG 1000 until Sunday. (5+4) Some sacs won't show up on u/s until hCG is at 2000+, so doctor said she'll bring me back in at 6+2 if we don't see anything 5+5. Also, remember you've got a lot of lining in your uterus and the sac is so tiny right now. Sometimes things just don't show up on some u/s machines- they all have different sensitivities.

Keeping you in my thoughts, hun. I hope Monday's u/s goes a little more smoothly and you get to see your bean! :hugs:
