SO yesterday I checked the baby's heartrate on the doppler before I went to bed it was up to 171 at one point. This morning I checked it again and would not go over 150. I am so scared, does the baby's heart rate fluctuate during the day? could I be having an impending miscarriage???? I WISH I NEVER CHECKED IT THIS MORNING, I am so so worried now.... I am 16 weeks, what do you guys think? THank you so much!

That's completely normal, babies heartbeat can fluctuate loads within a day depending on their activity levels etc.. Both those are in the normal
Range. Don't worry xx

Your baby's heart rate will fluctuate just like yours will. When you're sleeping, your heart rate goes down low. When you're sitting around, it will be much lower than if you're running. If you just finished a sprint around the block, your heart rate will be high! Likewise,... If your baby is asleep, their heart rate will be lower. If your baby has been bouncing around and having a good time in there, your baby will have a higher heart rate. If your baby is just relaxing, looking around, awake, it will be somewhere in the middle.

Umm. 170 is normal. Not sure why u are worried it's actually very good!

Thanks guys, I hope all is okay. Laila, it was 170 yesterday and today I can't get it over 150!!! It dropped 20bpm. If it started at 150 and stayed like that it wouldn't bother me, its just the sudden drop :(

Another thing to take in account that dopplers can just be an estimate of the heartrate. Does sound like your baby was having a wild night followed with a snooze though :)

Absolutely normal, baby was probably just sleeping. 150 is great xx

Totally normal ! This is my third pregnancy and I've been hospitalized a lot with my previous 2 and hooked up to fetal monitors. I remember clearly baby's hb can fluctuate from one minute to the next! Don't worry Hun xx

Remember that your baby is a tiny human, just like you, and so the heart rate will vary, just like yours. Your resting heart rate is much lower than when you are walking around doing things. The baby's heart rate will fluctuate as well. Lower when sleeping, higher when awake and kicking around. In fact, you should be more worried if it didn't. It's totally normal.

Popping in from 3rd tri - I was hooked up to a heartbeat monitor at the hospital a couple of weeks ago for 30 mins - the heartbeat fluctuated from 135 to 175 over that time! I was terrified but the midwife came and checked it all and said 'ooh happy little baby wriggling around everywhere!' Made me feel so much better!
