please help...how long?

hope you dont mind me asking this question but thought you ladies might be the most knowledagble on this...

I lost my boy suddenly at home just a week ago...my emotions have been so up and down since then...Nicholas was a twin so I have his beautiful brother to help me heal but...i just keep thinking about being pregnant again...can you tell me that this is normal and how long after your loss you waited until you TTC again? I had a c section with the twins so suppose I should give my body time to heal but i just have this really strong need to be pregnant again...

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I don't know the answer to your question, but just wanted to express my condolences. I would check with your OB or midwife to see how long they think you should wait to try again. I know for vaginal births it is recommended (at least here in the States) to wait at least 6 weeks to have sex....not sure what it would be for a C-Section.

I am so so sorry for your loss - I can only try and empathise with the pain you must be feeling.

I'm sorry - am not sure about the timescales following a full term birth - particularly a c-section.

I know of someone in oh's family who is just about to have a baby having gotten pg 4 mths after a c-section and it has caused problems for her - with the scars ( internal as well as the external scars ) being stretched - it has meant that she has had to have help looking after her baby as she hasn't been able to lift etc.

I would def talk to your Dr and if the advice is to wait maybe a counsellor to help deal with the emotions you will be going through?

I only had an early loss but I do understand the urge to be pregnant again but my body hadn't been through a full term pregnancy or c-section so I didn't have that to contend with.

Hope you get the support you need and the little brother or sister for your LO and his twin angel when the time is right.

Sorry about your loss once again. Most doctors will recommend 3-6 months before TTC, but that is usually after pre-term labour or a miscarriage. In fact, there are no real guidelines on how long one should wait. I believe your body tells you when it is ready to carry a baby/babies again. I gave birth to Jaime on 17 November 2009, lost him two days later and by Christmas the same year I was preggers again without even knowing I had ovulated. So, it can happen for you within weeks if your body is ready.

I know the feeling of wanting to be pregnant again after a loss, and despite what some may think or advise, it does help to be pregnant shortly after a loss because you have something to look forward to.

So sorry for your loss. I echo what someone said above about your csection scar. I wouod follow your obs advice very closely. You don't want to end up not bring able to care for your current baby.

We were told to wait at least 6 months after my section, preferably as much as 12 months.

Im so sorry for ur loss hun, i havent had a c sec so cant advise on that one, but as some one who has suffered a loss i also know the need to be preg again, and it was almost immediatly and i can only discribe it as almost a complusion to get preg again iukwim, i am now 23 weeks preg, i got my bfp on my little boys 6 th month angelversary, a good place to ask this question again would be in the stillbirth, neonatel loss and sids section as there may be mums there who can also advise on a c sec etc, good luck hun, hugs xx
