Please help !! Mc a few weeks ago but hcg still rising slowly

Hi there,

The last few weeks have been some of the most frustrating for me and I’ve been having a really hard time getting answers from doctor so I’m wondering if any women here have had a similar experience.

On Feb 21st at 5 weeks pregnant I had blood work done and had extremely low hcg levels only reading at a level of 30 . The doctor wanted to send me for hcg testing every other day to make sure levels were increasing and and that I wasn’t having a MC. By Friday the 23rd I started to bleed heavily and cramp and went to the hospital and doctor there said my levels were 22 and I was either having or going to have a MC. Ok fine.

I bled for 2 days solid then spotted for another three and doctor set me up for weekly blood testing to monitor my hcg and ensure it went to zero. On the 27th my levels were 16, ok good they’re decreasing as they should. On the 7th of March I went to get my levels tested hoping to see them at 0 and hoping AF would return so we could try again. To mine and my doctors surprise my levels were at 35... she sent me for every other day testing to make sure it wasn’t a fluke and a transvaginal US. My levels went March 9th 46, March 11th 54, March 12 40 and March 15 60 for HCG. On the 11th I had my US and they found out I have a bicornuate uterus with a septum. So my doctor sent me to a specialist. He wants to
Monitor my blood for a few days (saw him yesterday the 15th) to see what it does and to get me set up with a fertility specialist but he didn’t give me much information as to why my hcg is still increasing. It’s onviously not behaving in a manner that a viable pregnancy would. He said perhaps there were two eggs and one was ectopic but they couldn’t see anything in the US ... I don’t understand how you can misscarry and have your hcg increase ! This is so annoying!! He didn’t say much else of what this could be.

Has anyone had anything similar ???

Oh Martha, I'm so sorry you are having such a horrible frustrating time. I'm afraid I don't have any advise or anything to share but just wanted to say I'm sorry and hope you get clear answers and sorted out very soon.

From what I understand this can happen when there is still tissue left inside you that hasn’t come away properly after the baby has died - I think you will likely need a d&c. I’m really sorry this is happening to you.

Thanks for the sympathy. Yea my doc thought perhaps that was the case hence why she sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound but both it and the regular ultrasound they did showed no remaining tissue. Who knows though maybe they missed something. They did find a small cyst on my left ovary and that I have a bicornuate uterus with a septum though and said it’s common to have miscarriages with that if the egg implants inthe septum so ¯\_(&#12484_/¯

I think I had a bit of tissue left after my mc in dec. I had a scan 2 weeks after the pregnancy had passed naturally and she said it was all clear.
I did a pregnancy test about 4 weeks after this scan (6weeks total) and had a light pink positive which i assumed was just hcg falling slowly (my previous 2 mc it fell slow but never got numbers checked)
A couple of days later i had a bleed and passed a couple of small bits of tissue. I reckon it was a continuation of my mc not a period. After this it took just over 4 weeks to get a bfn.....tests all got a bit lighter each week. Dont know the numbers but it took a while....like 10weeks or so.

So since I just let things happen in their own time I have no idea if those numbers went up at any point of what was happening. But that bleed defo cleared things out and my next period was fine and I may have ovulated this week. Its frustrating but I just didnt want to go back to the hospital and have any more interference. So you aren't alone in things taking a while. I really hope its all over for you soon though xx

Thanks for the insight! That does make me feel a bit better knowing that other women it takes quite some time for everything to return to normal 🙂 I’m sorry for your losses btw. Right now with how often they’re making me go for blood work to monitor my levels I feel like a pincushion.
