So my plump little EBF baby's weight gain has dropped. My GP weighed her at her two month vaccinations today. At six weeks she was 5 kg and today she was 5.17 (she is two months in another day). That's a tiny weight gain. My GP isn't the brightest and said it was fine, but according to Kelly Mom it isn't enough.

A few weeks ago she started eating really quickly and only taking one side. She'd be done in five minutes. Reading online it didn't seem that this was cause for worry and as I said at her last appointment she had gained well despite eating like this for awhile. I explained her new eating pattern to the GP and he said it was fine.

I don't know what to do. I don't have professional advice to follow as the professional says this is fine and she's 75th percentile still and he's happy with that.

I should be worried, right? Should I start pumping? My supply seemed endless before, but it definitely seems smaller now. Then again, I've read after a couple months your breasts do feel less full and stop leaking because your supply adjusts. Mine are way less full though. I could hand express a couple of ounces before and today I expressed after feeding her and got an ounce and a half (I fed that to her in a bottle after breastfeeing her - in a total panic - but she only took about 3/4 of an ounce).

Please help...

I think maybe you are worrying more than you need to. No, 5oz isn't a huge amount over two weeks but babies gain weight at different rates. I think kellymom says 1.5lb a month. She may gain a pound over the next two weeks. I wouldn't worry after just one weigh in. I would leave it another two or three weeks before getting her weighed again. Is she weeing and pooing? Is she alert when awake? Does she seem happy? These are better indicators of how your baby is doing x

Yes to all of the above. Lots of diapers, happy and alert. She fusses in the evening but nothing wild. I don't know. I guess I'll just give it a couple of weeks and take her back. She's not scheduled for a doctor's appointment but I want to know.

I totally understand the wanting to know Mickey was a really slow gainer at first and i would have happilywweighed him morning, noon and night. But I became obsessed with how much he weighed and it really wasn't good for me. Take her back by all means but look at the other factors not just her weight x
