I am getting really fed up about the comments regarding Minipose's size and eating habits recently so I thought I would come here for some honest opinions.

He is current 11 weeks old, at his last check (9 weeks 3 days old) he weight 14.6 1/2 lbs, he is usually on the 75th percentile but occassional has a weight in where he is on the 91st. The health visitor has said she is not concerned with his weight, that the weeks at the 91st percentile are growth spurts and aside from that he follows a perfect curve.

He eats 6 times a day 6oz feeds but it will look like he will go on to 7oz feeds soon. The health visitor has advised us not to give him hungry baby milk and recommend comfort milk to help with his colic so he is on Cow and Gate Comfort.

I just got constant comments about how big he is, I am really fed up with it. I am large so sensitive about weight comments anyway. I just feel that people look at me, see that I am fat and assume I must be overfeeding my baby :nope:

If it matters I am 5'11 and my brothers, uncles and male cousins are all well over 6ft and pretty much all female family members are tall as well. One of my cousins is something silly like 6ft 7. My husband though is 5'6 and all his family are either short of average. So we really have no idea what height we an expect him to be, apparently he didn't measure particularly tall.

This is a picture of him taken this morning (he is so cute :cloud9:) I was wonder if you could give me your honest opinion on his weight and height, he is eleven weeks old.

He wasn't very happy, he doesn't like getting out the bath!

I wouldn't worry, it sounds like he is growing at the correct rate.

I don't know if it makes you feel any better, but I always get the same comments on how big Dylan is - and he's only on the 25th percentile!

He looks exactly like my LO did at that age...she followed the 75th centile untill about a month ago.
I also got the comments..people called her chunk, bonny...'oh my god what are you feeding her'!! It really bugged me..

I don't see anything wrong with him..he's a beaut. Can't help you with what he feeds tho I bf and have only just started ff so don't know much about what is right for that age.

:hugs:

I get exactly the same hun, Elle weighed 13lb 3oz last week and has just gone from 75th percentile to 91st and everyone is shocked when I tell them how old she is, someone thought she was 6 months! She drinks 5 x 6oz bottles but was on 6 x 5oz at 4 weeks! She is still in correct clothes as she is short but has the cutest chubbiest face ever.

I cant beleive that people feel the need to comment on babies size, its ridiculous! Had the same with my son, he was walking at 9 months and looked about 2 lol, he has only just 'skinnied' out now and he is 6 but has a adult size one foot already. Some bubbas are meant to be big and healthy, nothing to worry about. Try to ignore everyone, I know its hard but if HV not worried then you shouldnt be either.

Heres Elle on holiday at 10 weeks

She is a pretty little girl, she looks so cute asleep in her pushchair :)

Omar was 13 lbs @ 8 wks. We went to a 1 yr old birthday party today & he was bigger than the birthday girl! Everyone commented on how big he is. He's not even a big eater, & me & dh r not even big.

Mika was about 13 lbs at his 2 month checkup. At that time he was eating anywhere between 5 and 8 ounces at every feeding. His doctor was completely unconcerned, although she did make a comment along the lines of "at least we know he's eating enough!" (prior to about 1 month he wasn't eating well).

Now at 3.5 months, he is approaching 17 lbs, but his growth and feeding have slowed down a lot. Now he pretty consistently eats 7 to 8 ounces, but a couple weeks ago he was eating about 10!

I really wouldn't worry about it at all. He looks perfectly healthy! Your avatar is absolutely precious!

I'm a bigger girl too (5'11" and about 250lbs...EEK, can't believe I jsut admitted that!) and my OH is very overweight... I was concerned that people would have the same thoughts about Mika being overfed, but decided that I'm not parenting their children, I'm parenting mine and if he's a big healthy boy that's all right by me!

just ignore people hun. your LO is just lovely!

My first born was really small, he weighed 8ibs when he was over 2 months old (he was just 5ibs when born and lost weight due to being ill) and i got your usual 'oh my gawd, he's soooooo tiny' comments. My 2nd born was a heffy 9ibs 6ozs at birth and is a long girl and chubby too, and i get comments on how big she is - seems i cannot win lol.

your a fab mummy - your baby is happy and healthy. XXX

i think he looks perfect hun!

josh is 20 weeks & weighs 14lb 10, 25% percentile and people tell me he looks massive!

Just ignoor them, they just want something to say ...

he looks gorgeous and perfect to me hun. i am at the opposite extreme, sam is 10 months and only 16lbs - he certainly doesn't get that build from me, i'm overweight. babies are what they are, some are big, some are small, that's why there are 100 percentiles on their charts not just one for all babies to conform to.

He looks perfect to me. I always get told Edward's huge and he's only 25th centile  Try to ignore them xx

He looks perfectly fine to me ! ignore them all babies are different and not all babies are born the same size so some babies will grow to be little and some will be bigger.
I think babies look better when they have a bit meat on them anyways. You LO looks healthy!

he looks perfect and very healthy! i wouldn't worry hun, babies grow and develop in different ways..aidan has always been a big boy and now he weighs nearly 22lb (at 6 months) and his older cousin who is 1 and a half weighs 16lb!! everyone has their own way of growing and developing i suppose, but again your baby looks great!!

p.s. i'm sure he will enjoy the bath as he gets older!!

I always get "he is so tiny" comments lo was 4lb 7oz at birth and now at 9months he weighs 14lb 2oz below 0.4 centile (3-6month clothes) I don't really listen to the comments anymore. lo is a picky eater sometimes he eats ok and sometimes not this evenning he refused his food and had 4oz of milk instead! Little monkey!!

Don't worry about it, all babies are different

he looks solid just like a little boy should...perfect :-)

i have been having the same problem.my lo is chubby and tall.she is nearly 5 months and when we tell people they are suprised.i was in a shop the other day(i just moved to cyprus) 2 women at the counter were talking in greek.oh understood but i didnt. i asked what they said as they were looking at mia and saying things as if we wernt there!! one asked the other if her cheeks were meant to be that big!!! shes a baby!! in my opinion she is healthy and its one thing i dont have to worry about is her eating. and i hate it when people use the word fat!!!:growlmad:

He looks perfect to me, stop worrying, he is soooooooooo cute!! he doesn't look over weight, he just looks like a cutie healthy little baby xx

Its maddening, isn't it?

Claire has always been on the larger side. She was over the 100th percentile for her weight at her 6 month and her 9 month appointment. She weighed 20lbs at 6 months, and 24lbs at 9 months. Then she started walking and her weight gain has pretty much tapered off. She's 18 months now and weighs about 25lbs or so. 1lb in 9 months isn't very much! However since she was so large before it isn't a worry.

Here is Claire when she was around 8 months or so:

She was close to crawling in this picture, but not quite.

Here's her this morning:

She's still a chunky monkey, but I personally think its cute. :cloud9: I don't get so many comments now about her weight. I actually had people tell me that I should have put her on a diet when she was 8 months old.

looks absolutely adorable to me! a lot like my chap looked at that age, i'm no professional but i don't think you have anything to worry about at all. at 15 weeks ralphy was 18lb and 68cm long, a big chunk of a laddy. he has 5-6 feeds a day, average 7oz. he is happy and healthy and i'm not worried in the slightest. he has measured 91st-99.6th percentile...hoping we have a future England rugby star on our hands :-)

ps people think he's about 6mts and ask me if he's sitting up/weaning all the time...
