plus size ladies and scanning

I'm gonna get enough stick from the midwife for being overweight...haha just wanted one part to be nice!! When do you see a specialist for being a fatty because my bmi will be high?

ive seen the mw and i have a high bmi.... i just have to see the Dr just incase of anethetic.. but they are planning on letting me go the the midwife led unit..
i also have to have a GTT (glucose tolerance test) and to see the dietian..
i told my friends at uni who are training to be midwifes and there all like WTF...
you had a all ya test's MW lol!!!
but hey better know about it early,, may even get a few extra scans

(but she didnt give me any stick about being overwieght just said remeber your not eating for two)

Yet I had a stupidly full bladder at my 8 week scan yet she told me it wasnt full enough. You should of seen the look I gave her...PMSL! X

Lol - maybe I've got an abnormally large bladder !!

The only comment I had was when one MW (not my MW) weighed me at my dating scan, and looked up my BMI on the chart and pointed out I was in the obese category. She did have a bit of a look on her, but I let it go over my head, I knew that already so it's not exactly a shock!

I haven't had any mention of seeing a specialist, I expect that is if your BMI is extremely high ?

I was told if you have a high BMi (as I have) you have to see a Dr regarding the anthestic(epidural etc)...but I had an epidural with my son and I had no problems! X

Amy I'm also worried about weight gain! I'm already a stone heavier than I was when I gave birth to my son!

i am too!!! i said this to my best friend and she was 2.5 stones heavier than what i am now,, (she is taller tho) and she was fine had to have an emergancy c section but that was due to baby not her.. she but on 2 stone during pregnancy and it all came off i think the say u out on something like 1.5 kilo with just the baby and fluid... ( this is my first this info is just from reading)

Hi,
I am a UK 16-18 and i had a scan at 7 weeks and then another yesterday at 10 weeks and had no problems.
The sonographer was able to find the baby immediately on both occasions and i also didn't have a full bladder on either occasion which didn't cause any problems.
So i shouldn't worry about the scan honey.

i put 4 1/2 stone on when i had my 1st im hoping i dont now i was only a size 14 then tho so it was not to bad. My bmi will prob be 40 odd

Because my bmi was over 30. I had the glucose testing checking for gestational diabetes.
