What help/ support is everyone getting from GP/ Health Visitor?
I was not in the mood to be around a load of babies today so as a result I had a minor disagreement, shall we say, with the nursery nurse teaching baby massage. I have had PND for 5 months now and I see my GP every 2-8 weeks and the Health Visitor every 4-8 weeks but I am starting to get cheesed off because they don't do anything. They just ask questions and nod then bugger off for weeks on end! Surely there should be some support group or telephone number or counseling? My GP asked last week if I had suicidal thoughts and I said yes because I can hardly imagine not having them anymore and he asked me how I would do it and when I didn't come up with a detailed plan he told me to take 2 prozac instead of 1 and come back in 2 weeks!!!!

The problem with GP's is that they are not trained in mental health and to quick to try and solve the problem with tablets. (which do help but aren't the full answer) can you ask to be referred to a community psychiatric nurse. Your GP should be able to do this. In fact they should have done this for you already.
If you're feeling suicidal or finding it hard to cope there is also a team called the Crisis team, they will be available 24/7 again your GP should have details on your local crisis team.
Sorry your GP and HV haven't been more help to you.
