I thought it might be interesting to do a poll to see how everyone makes up their formula feeds - see what the majority of us do!

I pre made for night but made fresh in the day, what I would do is boil the water, pour it into the bottles and leave to cool then just add the powder when needed within 24hours x

i make fresh in the day as this is when alfies quite predictable he goes every 2 hours so i boil the kettle after 1 1/2 hours and then its ready for the 2 hour mark.
at night im lazy :shy: and premake 2 bottles and bang them in the fridge ready to reheat.

I always said I would pre make them, but I do make them fresh, I just cool them down in cold water. For the morning feed, I pre make it before we go to bed and put it in the fridge

Fresh at the moment but I can see us gradually switching to pre-making, especially on night feeds! x

Well, I make it fresh every time, but I don't go through all the trouble you ladies in the UK do, so it takes less than a minute.

I have just started giving my daughter one bottle of formula a day, she has 180ml, i put cooled boiled water in the bottle (100ml) and put aside then just before the feed i add 80ml of boiling hot water shake then add powder and mix.....makes it too warm to feed straight away....i just sit in cool water for a minute and its perfect. x

Wow, that's an absolutely flawless method! That would make it hot enough to kill the bacteria but not take too flippin long to wait for the kettle to cool before you can make it! Awesome! Think i'll be doing this! Xx

I boil the kettle, pour it into the bottle, then put the bottle in cold water to cool, then add the formula and then cool it some more. At night I use a thermos with boiled water that is abit cooled, and I have the formula already measured out so its much quicker.

As my baby tends to have more of a routine now I know when to boil the kettle so when I come to pour it in the bottle it doesnt have to be cooled down too much.

When she was tiny I used to make them up in the morning, quick cool and store them in the fridge. That started to be more of a hindrance once I started going out more, so by about 3 months I would make the bottles up with water and put the powder in dispensers, reheat the water by adding a couple of oz of boiling water and then add the powder. Much easier!

I always fill the bottles for the day, 6 ounces, 6 bottles, then add the milk from the powder dispenser as I go.. Even at night, LO has bottles at room temp so there's no warming for me. He's fine with it, did the same with my first.

We boil the kettle fill the bottles with boiling water and then put them straight into cold water to cool them quickly, make the bottles up completely (i use dr browns) and keep them in the fridge to use within 12 hours (we only make enough for 12 hours at a time) then heat it in the bottle warmer so its a little hotter than i could give to her add the powder and then cool it to the right temp.
