Hi, DH managed to speak to a doctor today regarding his SA. Apparently, he has got loads of the little blighters but motility was only 25%. Doc wants to see him on Thursday to have a chat but just wondered if anyone else had been in same boat? Thanks

Hi chick we have poor morphology, his gp has been completly useless, he seems to just think oh well it will take longer, but i have problems to :hissy: Sorry i can't offer any real advice, but i have DH now on maca, vit c, zinc and folic acid all suppose to help the swimmers. Good luck, i know how devastating this is :hugs: XXX

Dr will most likely want to do another test to be sure. Things such as too long or too short abstainance, sample being left too long before being tested amongst other things can dramatically effect the results.

What was his count? 25% is quite low as the the minimum needs to be 50%. Thats not to say that you cannot get pg from that level of motility, just that it is unlikely (naturally pg that is).

In most cases of very low motility, IVF/ICSI is usually what is needed.

Best of luck to you and I hope that this next test shows a more promising result :hugs:

Don't give up hope! Our Dr said we had little chance of ever getting pregnant the 'normal' way coz DH's sample was very poor - less than 1% normal and motility poor too. We were gutted and she said the only hope we had was ICSI. She recommended DH taking a single vitamin supplement but I did my own research and listed numerous things (10 or more) that were thought to improve the sample. Took the list (with recommended amounts) to the pharmacy and was shown some superduper mega vitamins which included nearly everything on my list. Just had to get additional Vit C and Folic acid. DH started taking once a day. In less than 6 weeks his sample quality had more than quadrupled and the Dr couldn't believe it!
Anyway, to cut a long story short we ended up trying IUI first (Dr recommended we gave it a couple of tries coz it's much cheaper than ICSI) and it worked first time!! I checked the stats online and with DH's sample, we were given a less than 6% chance of success. It's worth a try...
Do a bit of research about how to improve the quality of his sample and I'm sure you'll find the same info I did -If I still had my list I'd forward it to you to save you the time.
Both me and my DH know how you feel and hope you get lucky like we did. Take care, x

Hi

We were in the same boat but with a lower level of motility. We had a go with a few vitamins but it didn't have any effect for us and we had ICSI. Thankfully that worked first time - we were incredibly lucky and now we have two children.

DH did 2 SA through the GP and one through the ACU (Assisted Conception Unit) before we were referred for ICSI.

Helen
