I had planned my csection for June 5th, but around May 19th I started feeling funny and decided to check my blood pressure. It was 140/92 sat for a while and checked it again 158/100. Called My OB and was told to head straight to the hospital. Got there and my blood pressure eased off but my heart rate was 110-120 and wouldn't relax. I was calm but it just wouldn't go down. So kept overnight to do a 24 hr urine and monitor my heart.
I was let go home the following day to finish my urine and I had an appt the day after that. Went to my appt and they drew blood for the urine and my blood pressure in office was a little high but went to normal after a bit.
Was sat waiting my results, well they didn't call til the next morning and the nurse told me to head straight to the hospital.
When I got there nobody knew why I was there. The nurse that I had had the couple days before was my nurse that day and she said he doesn't tell them anything. She was very honest with me the whole time I had her. Eventually he came in to see me, and told me basically they had got the results of my urine and my protein was high again, so he wanted me to be admitted in case the blood results showed pre eclampsia again (I had it with my first) and he decided to go ahead and let me eat And he was going to go check on my blood work and talk to the MFM.
A little bit later he comes in and tells me I do have pre eclampsia again. And that the MFM recommended delivery the next day. So my section was put in for early morning Saturday May 23rd.
Around 11 something the nurse told me an anesthesiologist was gonna come talk to me and go ahead and place an epidural. He came in and explained that the reason he needed to place one was because with pre eclampsia my platelets could be really low or drop the next day and if that happened I'd have to be put under ga if he didn't go ahead and place the epi now. He said he was gonna put it in but not put any meds in it as it wasn't for labor or anything.
The first one he messed up and sent a severe pain down my left side and hip so he removed that one and put it a little lower and that one worked.
He said he was gonna give me a test dose to make sure it was working. I felt numb immediately and my back crunched in on itself when I was trying to lay back cause I couldn't feel it. Then I started to feel funny and he said my blood pressure was 90 something/ 60 something so he gave me some neo, BP meds to get it to go up, and for a while it kept going from 90/60 to 120/80 so he was a little worried than at one point I heard ringing in my ears and felt really bad and dizzy I couldn't breathe my head was spinning he started pumping fluids in really fast and gave me even more neo and after 5 min of agony thinking I was gonna die I started to feel better. I asked what happened and he said my BP got down to 60/40. After a little bit it finally stabilized ans before he left he said honey I've never had to use that much neo on someone you were badly dehydrated.
Fast forward to next morning (not much happened that night except very little sleep due to a crap ton of tape and a catheter in my back)
They came in around 7 to get me prepped, woke up my hubby, went and got my mama from the waiting room, and around 8 off we were to the OR. Got down there and given the meds in my epi, slowly started feeling numb, and they moved me from the bed to the table. First the anasthaesiologist tested to see if I was numb he touched my stomach and asked if I could feel it I said yes, he asked if it was cold and I said no, than he touched my face and his hand was ice cold so he said that was good then The doctor told me he was gonna touch my stomach to let him know if I could feel it. I waited, and waited eventually he asked if I felt him touching me and I didn't feel a thing so I told him no, he said he was gonna touch in a different place on my stomach, and I waited and He asked if I felt that and I said no. So he said scalpel, and I immediately went oh shit. Lol
They brought my hubby in at that point and I was able to speak coherently with him and look at him unlike last time. He tried rubbing me to calm me down but I told him politely please stop touching me. At this point I was shaking uncontrollably from the epi ans the cold in the OR. So the other anasthaesiologist brought me blankets for my arms and chest.
Next thing we know the anasthaesiologist says get up daddy and pulls him up so He could see the delivery of our sons.
William Douglas (transverse) came out first screaming loudly at 8:28 am weighing a whopping 6 lbs 14 oz and 18 1/2 in long. Next came Connor Lee who was quiet at first but started screaming seconds later at 8:30 am weighing 5 lbs 11 oz and 19 in long. Hubby was sent over to get pictures and see the babies while the doctors check on them.
While they were doing That I started feeling funny, and next thing I know they're taking my hubby and babies out of the room and rushing to get a second IV in for fluids and the anasthaesiologist said he knew I wanted to see my babies but they had to get me stable first. After a little bit I got sick which turned out to be because my BP dropped again. After that I asked the anaesthaesioligist how much longer did I have and he looked over the curtain and said 45 min. I started to cry but stopped myself because I knew I wouldn't be able to breathe if I did. The nurse came in And asked If I was okay and I told her I just want my husband. She said she'd let him know I was okay and that I was worried about him. She told me both babies were in the nursery right now. And she told me to rest take a nap. I took a tiny nap and when I woke up I asked how much longer and he said he's fixing to place the staples now, I was thinking that's good because I'm starting to be able to feel. By the end of the staples I had most of my feeling back, I felt when he placed the bandage over them. I told the anesthesiologist that and I moved My toes for him and he gave me a little bit more meds in my epi. I was wheeled to recovery and had to have a blood draw and they were waiting for my blood pressure to level out a bit but they told me in order to leave recovery you had to be able to move your toes and and the nurse laughed and said we'll you could do that in the OR so you're good.
Then they wheeled me to my room and my hubby was standing outside the door waiting and right behind me they wheeled in Connor but William was still in the nursery due to respiratory distress. Later that day he was sent to a larger hospital but Connor was able to stay with me. I was released 3 days after with Connor and William was released from NICU in the larger hospital 7 days after birth.
They are now 1 month old and doing beautifully. Recovery for me has been 10 times better and easier than last time. My strips are now off and I can't wait til I can take a bath.
