I recently was diagnosed with Depression and have been taking Anti-Depressants so when I was feeling weird and missed my period I thought it would be a side effect. I took a pregnancy test more as a precaution. Now that it is positive I don't know what to do. I couldn't even tell my parents about my depression never mind this.
Telling my boyfriend will not be an issue but my parents? I have an appointment with my doctor in a week to discuss my medication, do I wait until then to tell the doctor or do I try and get in to see him earlier?
Sorry if I am rambling, I am just still in shock

I would give your doctor a call and ask his advice asto whether or not you should continue with the anti depressants as some of them are not safe for pregnancy.
As for your parents, I'd just sit them down and tell them! I was 17 when I got pregnant with our daughter, and my parents took it surprisingly well!
Congratulations by the way! I'm Lisa, and Im 22. My husband is 24, our daughter is 4.5 and our son is 18 months!

First of all, congratulations :hugs:
I would try and see the doctor earlier if you can, I haven't been allowed to take any anti-depressants for my anxiety since I've been pregnant and I know others that had to stop taking them during their pregnancy too.
I would just tell your parents as soon as possible, it'll be so much better once you've got it over and done with and they could be really supportive and help you through it.

Congratulations!

I would phone your doctor and see what they say, as PP said some are not safe in pregnancy. As for your parents I think face-to-face and asap is best! Good luck :)

Oh and I'm Clair, 20 and I have a 2.5 year old son and a daughter who is 1 next week :)

Thank you for the support, it's all a bit overwhelming at first. I told my boyfriend last night and he's being great although he's clearly shocked and a little scared too.
I'll call the doctor first thing on Monday, this baby is a shock but the last thing I want to do is cause it any harm. I'll at least see the doctor before I talk to my family. We're home for Christmas so maybe we can give them a little surprise.
Now just on to everything else :p

congrats :) hope your parents are supportive!

I got admitted into hospital when I found out at over 7 weeks, rang my parents in bits, my dad was happy from the start and my mum is gradually coming round xxx

Definitely stop taking the anti depressants... or wean off of them even though I bet they didn't have much time to start working.

So you do not live with your parents?

Congratulations. It's tough to find out that you're pregnant when you're not expecting it but it becomes really exciting, really fast! :flower:

I disagree with this advice (to stop taking them). Depending how bad your depression is, it may be better to keep taking the meds or switching the type of med than going without. Of course, speak to your doctor first. Some anti-depressants are very low risk to take during pregnancy, particularly when compared to the alternative (severe depression).

If you want to know more, this is a great site: www.motherisk.org
Just click on "anti-depressants".

My doctor has suggested I keep taking them, he says the risk is tiny but my partner and I are unsure. I've just web trying to research any cases.

I live with my partner about an hour an a half from my parents. I moved out for university. So glad I will have graduated by the time the baby is born!

First of all, congratulations! :flower:

I would listen to your doctor, or perhaps see another doctor for a second opinion if you're unsure.
