Ok so my first was an IUGR baby. It was spotted at 34 weeks that my bump wasn't growing, so I had a scan a week later, which showed he was measuring 3 weeks behind, I had to see a consultant a few days later and they wanted to get him out as soon as. He was born at 36+4 weighing 4lb 6oz.

With this one my bump has measuring a week behind through out most of the pregnancy. I had a growth scan at the beginning of the month which showed this baby was measuring 2 weeks behind.

last night I went into hospital due to reduced fetal movement, now my bump is measuring almost 3 weeks behind. The midwife there asked if I had another growth scan coming up, when I said I hadn't she booked it there and then and said I needed to have as soon as.
This has got me worried, for a number of reasons.
I've been in hospital 3 times this week, twice because of reduced movements,
lack of weight gain,
I have noticed my bump is not growing and feels like it has gotten smaller.

I'm not sure what answers or advise I'm expecting, to be honest I think I just needed to get that out. All pregnancy I have been worried about having an IUGR baby and when I noticed that my weight has been really slow to gain I did start worrying.

I'm sorry you are going through this, you are at a good gestation now, almost where you were with your first LO, so hopefully all will work out ok, even if you have to deliver soon.

When is your growth scan booked for? Good luck.

thank you,
luckily he was born healthy and came home with me 2 days later, which gives me a little hope that if the same was to happen again, this baby will be ok.

I have my scan on Monday, so I don't have too long wait.

I'm glad they aren't making you wait. Let us know how it goes. :hugs:

so am I, this weekend is a killer, I just want to know if baby is still growing.

i have everything crossed for you that all is well and LO is showing growth. What a scary thing to be going through. Let us know how it goes.

it's horrible, even more so this time as gone through it once before.
I will do

I would think it would be worse because you have gone through it... I would be more stressed over it.

My son was 6 lbs3oz and i was three days past my due date when he was born. They did not bother with a lot of scans back in 2001.

my daughter was 5 lbs 3 oz. When she was born. I was 39 weeks 0 day pregnant when she was born. She lost weight to 4 lbs and something oz.btw, my son lost weight to 5 lbs and something oz. She was considered symmetrical IUGR according to how she was growing (she was dropping off the chart).

I just came conclusion that I just have small babies...especially when most of my mom's side give birth to 6 lbs babies ...mom , my aunts, so on...it is rare to get a baby over 7lbs in my family. my sister had a 5 lb baby herself.

My mum had quite small babies as well. I was a small baby 5lb 6oz.
I was told when I had my first that he was small because I am. but I know plenty of short people who go on to have normal average size babies.

I just had a look at my notes, I though baby was measuring 2 weeks behind on my last scan for some reason, but on my notes they have put it as 3 weeks behind, makes me a bit more nervous.
I think it's more the not knowing that's getting to me at the moment.

feeling pretty gutted, thought I was going to have a growth scan today, get there and its turns that the appointment was to be hooked up to a fetal heart monitor. the midwife there thinks this pregnancy will end up the same way it did last time. She said I have to wait to see what the consultant says but chances they'll refer me to twice weekly fetal monitoring and then have baby at 36 weeks.

My baby rarely grew too (she was growing fine in the beginning though...just slowed down in the end). The reasons I ended up at 39 weeks because they did not know how little she grew . I somewhat avoided too much ultrasounds. she is alright but safe instead of sorry is a good idea

its been the same with both my pregnancies, they grow well till the last tri and then seem to really slow done.

I had a consultant appointment today. left feeling awful.
i know theres something not quite right, i just have that feeling.
She said everything looked fine. the growth scan i had at the beginning of the month is fine and my bump is fine, she had no concerns. normally I'd be happy with that.
However baby was on the bottom centile line at my growth scan, my bump is measuring 4 weeks behind.
it measured 31 today and she plotted it on my chart as 33 so that it looked like it was growing. had she plotted it on 31 like she should have done she would have spotted the it's no longer following the same line and it's now on the bottom line.
I ended up bursting into tears as i am so worried about my baby's growth and lack of movements, it was only then that she booked me in for another growth scan. had i not i don't think she would have bothered.
All 4 midwives I've seen the last 2 weeks have been concerned about my bump being small and where baby is on the growth chart.
the consultant is the only one who is not concerned.

When is your growth scan? My baby has IUGR & its been so stressful, can't imagining going through it twice :( did u have a normal birth with your 1st little boy? I got told yesterday that when the time comes to get baby out it will be a c-section as baby is already compromised & fell even further off the centile charts (he's never been on a line since my 20 week scan) I feel gutted as I just assumed I'd be induced around 37 weeks & she's now saying that 37 weeks is unrealistically optimistic :( xxx

My baby was less 3% percentile curve on her head growth at 36 or 37 th weeks. I was very worry. And she did not move much either. But in the end, she turned out great. (19 months old today)

with my first I was induced at 36+4 but it ended up in a emcs due to fetal distress and failure to get pass 2cms.
it wasn't spotted he was iugr till I was near on 35 weeks.
At least with you knowing so early on you have plenty of time to get everything sorted.
I had less then a week to run out and get a load of tiny baby clothes and nappies, luckily we had help so it wasn't too bad.
With this one it's still not been confirmed iugr even with him measuring 3 weeks behind at 32 weeks. I should find out Tuesday hopefully.
with iugr sometimes it's safer for them to be out that little bit early, depending on how your baby's growth goes from now would depend when they'll induce. hope it all goes well for you though. xx

@littlesteph I am so sorry you are going through this. LO was measuring at 10th percentile at 28 weeks but my bump is measuring on target. I was stressing over the 10th percentile I just cant imagine the worry and stress you are going through. I'm glad that you are being monitored closely though this way they wont miss anything.

When is your next growth scan? I'm having mine around 34 weeks. I had my OB appointment yesterday and she did a quick scan, baby was wriggling and had a good strong heartbeat.

Let us know how your growth scan goes.

I have a scan on tueday, i'll be 35+4.
I saw my consultant a few days ago and she wasn't concerned. wasn't even going to bother booking a growth scan. it was only because I broke down and started saying how worried I am that she even bothered.
All the midwives I have seen the past 2 weeks have seem concerned and have said baby feels small.
I just have to wait till Tuesday to see if their concerns and my gut feelings are right or not.

Try not to worry, I was told by my OB and scan tech as long as there is growth thats what matters. One of my friends had small babies. All three of her children were born between 5-6lbs at 40-41 weeks.

Im glad that you have a scan though and I think your consultant wanted to assure you.
