My baby is still breech, I'm 34 weeks tomorrow. If at my 36 week scan baby is still breech, the midwife told me they will 'discuss' my options. As my baby is measuring ahead by a few weeks, she said it was less likely to turn of his own accord due to limited space, and she said they won't attempt ECV with large babies, again because of the lack of space. So my only real choice would be a caesarean. I'm plus sized with an apron belly that hangs over where they would need to cut, and for this reason I'm really worried that the incision won't heal, as it gets hot a sweaty there, regardless to showering. Usually I talc but that wouldn't be an option with a healing scar. Has any other plus size ladies had a problem?

Hi yes I have and my scar did get infected but they gave me like a barrier cream and I put gauze in the middle, it was not really that bad and only lasted about two weeks I just had to try and keep it dry x I took paracetamol if it was sore but I might have a cesarean again thus time and I'm not worried.. I think it got infected as they put a large plaster on and the nurse said don't change for a week !! I should not have listened and changed after a day or so as it was infected under plaster x

Hope this has helped and not put you off x

Hi :flower:

I 2 am a plus girl and had my lo a litle over 6 weeks ago va c-section. (also have the "apron tummy") They glued me back with one stitch on the end. (after one week they took the stitch out) I washed the area twice a day. also after showers (sounds silly but worked) i took the blow drier to it (on the low heat) so that i knew it was dried well. and so that it didnt rub or get ewwed with sweat i folded a pad sticky side to sticky side and placed down there. (i tried gauze but it got to sweaty).

It worked for me and thought id share. Hope all goes well for you!!:flower:

Thank you for your replies. The pad idea sounds like a good one.

hey, i just had my son a month ago and i also have the apron belly, dont worry, just keep it clean and dry it, apply the cream they will give you and take your meds, you will be fine, i also worried about sweating but i didn't, at night slept on my back and didn't cover with blankets to give it some air, now i wear my jeans and i have healed well..

I had an emcs and am plus size, I just tried to keep it as dry as possible and be gentle with cleaning it in the shower etc, good luck :) xx

i just wanted to put in my two cents on this also, i have the belly as well, and my incision looked wonderful until two days ago, i was patting it dry after my shower and noticed that it was sore in one spot and seemed to have some drainage, so i called my ob and they looked at it for me, swabbed it (hurt like there was no tomorrow) and put me on an antibiotic..im moving around fine, its slightly tender, but other than that, no issues...and not sure why all of a sudden it decided to react..just keep an eye on it, and i would say if it worries you, call the dr, the worst thing they will do is tell you it is normal :flower:

I'm plus size and had a csection. I had dissovable stitches, had a dressing that stayed on for 1 week, kept everything clean and dry. I second the use of the hair dryer! I didn't have any problems with infection. My biggest problem pain wise was all of the swelling. :( My lower abdomen was so swollen for weeks.

hey hun I am very plus sized... uk size 26 (21 stone at point of section) and i had no problems. i had a single stitch (so one thread right across with beads on the ends) which was removed on day 7. my dressing was taken off after 24 hours and replaced with a clean one.. then the day after removed completely. I washed it 4 times a day and patted it dry (the hairdryer trick is fab) and I put a pad on like other have said just to soak up any excess moisture. I didnt get an infection at all and it wasnt uncomfortable for long.

Good luck hun :) I loved my section. xx

Same here, larger lady with the apron tum, and the pad folded lengthways in half and placed over the scar helped soak up moisture. Had two sections, due another this time around too. Definitely recommend just cleaning and drying it as carefully and gently as you can and keeping a clean pad there to stop sweat or any kind of fungal problems. X
