Hi ladies,
So I gave birth to my adorable little son a week ago today, and suffered from a retained placenta and PPH. I didn't have to have a transfusion but my hemoglobin was a 79 so it was close! I was in the hospital for 4 days as on top of this I had also suffered from a spinal headache due to the spinal I received to remove the placenta.
I've been bed ridden until yesterday and my lochia is now yellow/white. However I have a lot of stairs in my house so I have been going up and down the stairs, and doing light duties today. I've notoced red blood again  it's scared me so much I am now back in Bed resting. I am terrified of hemhorraging again- I do not want to experience that ever again!!!!
How long should I avoid the stairs/take it easy?? I have so much to do and can't seem to get my body to cooperate and heal :(
For those ladies who have had a PPH, how long did it take for you to heal? And to regain confidence in your body again?

I had a PPH during an EMCS and also came very close to a blood transfusion and a hysterectomy. I bled for quite a long time (5+ weeks) and was worried about having retained placenta, especially since I was told that the membranes were ragged. I also continued to lose red blood on and off for over a month, particularly after increased activity- something I was warned about in the hospital. However, every time I mentioned it to a midwife or health visitor, I was told that it was normal and I should only be concerned if I experienced extreme pain or signs of infection, and that the bleeding should stop by 6 weeks post partum.

My LO is now 7 weeks old and my bleeding stopped completely a couple of weeks ago so I guess all is okay. If I were you though, I'd definitely speak to your doctor/midwife for reassurance.

Big hugs hon!!!! I had a delayed hemorrhage (3 weeks pp) due to retained placenta with my ds1. It was scary. I did get a transfusion. It took about 2 weeks after the d&c to remove the retained placenta before I felt normal and stopped bleeding. I honestly spent a lot of pregnancy #2 worried it would happen again. It thankfully didn't but I must say I've never gotten over the fear yet. Even now with aunt flo's monthly visit I get anxiety. I think it's something to just work through.

:hugs:
