Hi gals,

up to now we have been using the 200ml cartons and I wondered how many feeds you got from the 900g tins of powder?

I notice boots have 2 tins for £12 so thought I might use the powder to make the night timebottles in advance using the cartons for when I am tired. But no idea how long that might take to use up.

I find that a 900g tin lasts me exactly a week (I had to figure this out because I needed to know how much I had to bring to Mexico for a week)

Cool thanks that's 900ml a day she's only on 500 to 600 a day so that bodes well :)

from that then let's say 900ml over 9 days = 8,100ml rough calc so if that's £6 (boots offer) the this would cost me £24 in 40 cartons wow that's a saving!!

what formula do you use? we use cow and gate and it is £7.25 most places xx

Each scoop is 4 grams. A tin of 900 grams have 225 scoops/oz of formula. If ur daughter takes around 30 oz per day, the tin will last for 1 wk

aptamil says 4.6g per scoop so 900g / 4.6g = 195 scoops in the tin.

So, if you serve up 5oz feeds at a time then the tub will last 195 / 5 = 39 feeds:flower:

yes its aptamil just checked the offer and the offer is for the 1year and older milk :( but the stage 1 milk is just about £9 for 900ml

the aptamil first is never on offer - its not allowed to be - something to do with the government not wanting to promote breastmilk substitutes :flower:

Just checked my tin again, it's also aptamil. it says 4.4g. I think there is a fraction frm one country to another. lol

5 oz is 142ml roughly so that's about 1.5 feeds ;) as she goes at the moment.

At 4.4 that 204 servings
204 servings @ 5oz = 1020oz I think?

I need 3.5oz per serving into 1020oz this gives me 291 feeds - I think??

:) it's 204/5 will give u 40-41 feeds  She takes 5 feeds per day, so divide 40/5 = 8. So the tin will last 8 days

Shows how tired I was hehe can't belive I got it that wrong ;)

The tin will always work out cheaper than the ready-made stuff....basically because it's cheaper to make and takes up less room on a shelf.

SMA says 214 scoops per 900g tin which costs £7.25 a tin (3.4p per scoop). At the moment I use 41 scoops a day (£1.40 a day) so it lasts 5.5 days roughly give or take a little. When Earl was tiny a tin would last 6-7-8 days dependent.....at his height of eating, I was going through one every 3.5 days!!! Formula is expensive to stop us using it.....ok that might work for cigarettes and alcohol but it really makes my blood boil. I could get my soap box out but I wont lol.

1 box of cow & gate lasts us 6 days. At just over £7 its much better value than the cartons, which we only use when we're out and about.

I don't know if you guys have seen the other thread ongoing - Savers are apparently selling aptamil first a bit cheaper than elsewhere at the moment - that price should stay stable, since it cannot be a special offer!

Yep, savers have the 1st stage milk for about £7.25 and they had loads of cow and gate for £6-ish. Nappies were also very cheap in there.

Yep seen the tread going on Monday to see if I can find them in Ely ;)
