I was just wondering, if you have had pre eclampsia or pre eclampsia and hellp syndrome have you gone on to have future pregnancies with out this reoccuring or did it come back?

If it came back was it as severe or was it milder?

pre-eclampsia in first pregnancy.
pre-eclampsia, an abruption, eclampsia an HELLP in second pregnancy
and only gestational diabetes and borderline pregnancy induced hypertension in my third.

Jesus Christ!

I really dunno if i could do it all again the thought of severe pe turns my stomach and if hellp came back i think i'd just wana curl up and die.

It scares the hell out of me the thought of going through all that again.

How far on were you when you got PE?

First time 32 weeks BP was raised a week later it was enough for me to be admitted and not let home again.

Second time my BP was up right from the start. But I just knew it would go badly. Was a terrible pregnancy and even worse birth.

But the third pregnancy was a surprise. I had been told not to have any more and had a minera in. It felt different and I knew deep down that it would be ok.

Pre-eclampsia isn't as bad as it used to be, they have much better care for us now and it can be controlled with medication.

But at the end of the day, DS2 is worth it all and I am a stronger person for it.

My consultant told me that if my second baby has the same Dad, there is a lower chance of getting PE again, but if I have a baby with a new father, I'm likely to get it again. Sounds odd!

I'm going to WTT until LO is older incase I need to be hospitalized.

Oh nooooooooooooo!!

Im so worried now. . .my midwife told me the chances of me getting it bad again are low. . .but now im pooping my pants.

Glad you're well though. xx

I didn't mean to scare everyone!

Mine was an extremely rare and unusual case, there are far more who don't have it in other pregnancies than who do.

I nearly died with my pre ecclampsia and i was very close to loseing my lovely little girl. It came on so hard and heavy i didn't have a clue what it was. In the space of 3 hours i went from been totally healthy to knocking on deaths doors and then to make it worse i got hellp syndrome on top of it. Mine was severe pre eclampsia which i think means it's took a hold o me at such a rapid speed.

It scares the hell out of me knowing i could relive it all again if i had another baby or even worse one of us dying. I have been told i can have an elective caserian at 38 weeks if i want one which i would as my last labour ended up with a failed induction and an emergency caserian anyway so i don't see point in me been induced again when they have told me it would more than likely fail again.

I'm just curious to see how many people who have had it and it's reoccured again in another pregnany. :)

Sorry, theres just no way I am going to ease your mind is there? :flower:

There is a support group btw

https://www.preeclampsia.org

pretty much anything you want to know is on there.

Haha don't worry about it i think i'd be super pparanoid anyway. I know everyone is diferent that's why i've made this pole :)

I lost my son at 27 weeks to pre eclampsia, with daughter had signs from approx 32 wks and was nduced at 38wks when all symptoms were there again. Fingers crossed for this one!!!!!!!

They are questioning hellp for me at the moment. back to see consultant on tue, will no more. never had it with 1st 2 pregnancies.

i had severe PE in 1st pg from 31 wks(BP was brought down with meds but not low enough 2 leave hospital) got 2 35+2 and all went pear shaped and had em c section. B.P took 10 mths 2 return 2 normal after she was born

2nd pg took aspirin from 12 wks got 2 34 wks with no probs then BP went up so put on meds, got 2 38 wks. much better pg x x

So for most people it does come back or the symptoms start to come back and the hospital interviene.

I thought it might bust just wanted to check.

I had what they would call mild PE with my son and started symptoms from around 28 weeks and delivered at 36 weeks this time around I am just now having symptoms but my BP is spiking much higher than it ever did with my son and Ive been on BP meds the whole pregnancy so they have been doubled which is keeping it lower but not as low as its supposed to so Im pretty worried now and hoping for an induction around 37 38 weeks...but I am so happy it stayed away this long :) oh and my babies have the same daddy so not sure how that would make any difference because it hasnt in my case...everyone is different so it is definatly possible to have a pregnancy with out getting PE after having it in the first but I do see your fear if you had it that bad...

With my first I had pre eclampsia, eclampsia and HELLP syndrome and nearly died but with my second just mild pre eclampsia and third pregnancy low bp! The first was with a different partner.

hello thanks glad i found this. im a little nervous now and will see the doc to arrange to see specialist.
i developed pregnancy induced hypotenisia at 26weeks i was told i wouldnt make it to 32weeks which i did, although i was later told i shouldnt have been allowed to go so far, im glad i did my baby was only 6lb 9oz
i was on 500mg metholdopa 3 times a day and still my bp would not go down by 37 wks i was induced. I developed protine in my urine so had turned into pe
is pih the same as pe? i want another baby but i am scared now. i was told i will recieve consulted led care but they were useless last time and i never sore same consultant and each had different ideas, was told more scans and most likely more time in hospital but i was willing to risk that as i thought the chances where lower as i have the same partner now im not so sure i will cope.

My sister had pre-e on delivery with her first. BP stayed up for a month after I think
With her second had emerg. induction at 36 weeks for pre-e and HELLP. Was hospitalized for 1 week after birth and had high BP for 6mnths after at which time she got pregnant again. BP was up throughout pregnancy and she was on meds still. Scheduled induction at 38 weeks. BP skyrocketed after delivery. Was in the hospital for 3 weeks after and on meds for over a year. 4 different meds. Our mom had pre-e with her but not with me. I think that site is probably a good place to start. What does your doctor think??
