Pre-eclampsia?

I posted last week about my amnitotic fluid being low. But now it also looks like some things are pointing towards preeclampsia. For the last two weeks my bp have been borderline hypertension (130s/80s). Yesterday at my check up my bp was 146/93 with "trace amounts" of protein. I've had headaches for a couple weeks now, seeing shadow/black spots moving in my peripheral vision, nausea, very minor swelling in my hands and feet, burning sensation on the upper part of my belly. I have a bp cuff at home and have been checking myself. About 3 or more times my diastolic (bottom) number has been over 90, but my upper number goes up to maybe 138.
Does this sound like it could be going in the direction of preeclampsia? I have another appointment at my docs office on Thursday (I go twice a week now since discovering my oligrohydramnios/low AFI). I'm going to ask the nurse to test my urine again Thursday. Thursday is just a scan and stress test, my doc will be out of the office a his other location. I'm nervous that this will lead to something more than just pregnancy induced hypertension. It's my third pregnancy and I've never issues like this before :?

Sounds like it to me. How is baby's movement? If you notice less movement I'd suggest you go to the emergency room and if I were you and my bp was still in the 130/90 range on thursday I'd insist on being monitored at least for 24hrs. I lost my baby to pre-e so I always encourage other pre-e mums to be vigilant and proactive. All the best

He's been fairly quiet for a week or two now (today actually pretty active and I feel relieved). His movement has been all I can really think about since he was in distress last Thursday. During the day my bp sits around 140/90, but at night after the kids go to bed it'll sit around 120/80s

Hun 140/90 is a high bp especially since it's consistently high all day. I'd suggest you call when you know your doctor would be in the office and let them know how your bp is behaving. I'm not trying to freak you out, just don't want things to go wrong for you :hugs: Sometimes I feel like the pre-eclampsia police lol

It does sound worrisome. Honestly I think they should be taking it more seriously, especially with all the symptoms you've been having. You don't want to mess with PE. So I have to agree with Elijahs Mummy (so sorry for your loss btw :hugs: ).

Thanks ladies. My appointment is first thing tomorrow and ill make sure to have the nurse make a note of it and see if I can be seen by the doc again before the end of the week (or go across the street to the hospital). My mom has hypertension that is medicine controlled and felt so lucky to never deal with it with my pregnancies. Looks like my luck has ran out :dohh:

Keep us updated! Just yesterday I was talking to my cousin who is pregnant and she described her symptoms to me and I told her to go to the doctor today and sure enough she's now warded for monitoring due to pre eclampsia. All the best to ya again ;)

I talked to the nurse today. She dipped my urine and it was clean. She said to keep checking at home with my cuff and continue with the bedrest. She took my resting bp and it was 120/81, but I told her how this morning I got up, used the bathroom and then checked it and it was 131/91. I go back to the docs on Monday and hopefully it's not too high or I see any huge spikes this weekend. I'll be writing down my checks to show them on Monday. But on a plus side, my amniotic fluid has doubled since last week! So we're out of the danger zone for now

So I got to see the doc today and showed him some of the readings I got at home over the weekend. He is having me do a 24hr urine collect. My urine was clean again today, but I'm wondering how common it is to have clean dips at appointments, but have protein in the 24hr sample?

Honestly I think it can go both ways. Protein showing in office but not 24hr and protein not showing in office and showing in 24hr. I believe it just depends on your activity for the day, then again I'm no MD :) glad you're being monitored though. How is LO moving?

He also mentioned testing on Thursday when I go for my next stress test. I'm assuming blood draw. LO is moving more than he was the week I had the low fluids. At the end of last week he was being super active, but he's calmed down a little bit. Though the stress tests are going fine and he waits to be active at night, making me worry during the day :dohh: my "resting" bp this morning was 130/85 (my normal is 115/65). :?

I think you should still keep a record of it and talk to your doc/midwife about it whenever you go. I'd rather see you be a nuisance to them than have to join us in the loss support forums IYKWIM. Blessings to ya :hugs:

turned in my 24 hr collect this morning. hoping to know the results today or tomorrow

Just wanted to wish you luck with everything. With my pre e my urine never showed any protein or just trace protein when dipped so they hesitated to actually diagnose me. They finally had me do the 24 hour test which showed numbers in the 500's, still mild but diagnostic amounts. Now weeks later I always have 2+ in just my dips. So, I think the 24 hr is really the most accurate.

update in case you guys are still interested, lol.
24 hr urine came back fine. nurse says it's pregnancy induced hypertension unless protein shows up. yesterday i had my stress test and biophysical. stress test was fine. but my amniotic fluid dropped too low again (to a 3.9). the only thing the doctor can say is to "continue bedrest" and will recheck them on monday. i'm assuming if they dont improve on monday, i'll be getting induced. a week ago my fluid levels were at a 10 (after getting them up from a 4.8). i dont get why they keep dropping :( at this point i just want to have the baby and have him be safe

Aww MilosMommy7 37+wks is a great time to deliver. LO is almost done cooking! I'm sure your doctors will only induce if they are happy with baby's weight and activity etc. I read on another low amniotic fluid thread that coconut water really helps. Maybe you can try that? I appreciate your update if no one else does :) keep it up ;)

38 weeks tomorrow  I already have coconut water in the fridge from a suggestion when my fluids first gave us a scare. Which is why I was so shocked and bummed out when they said they were so low again. I haven't changed anything I've been doing since I first had to work at getting them up at 35 weeks  at 35 weeks baby was estimating 6lb 2oz

Before I start typing, one name I want you to write/copy down that will forever change your life or someone you know with preeclampsia. "The Brewers Diet". I will make this the reply possible :) Basically, I'm a mommy of 3 who has had preclampsia with 1 pregnancy and severe preeclampia with the other 2. So, I know first hand how horrific of a disease it can be - if left to run its course.
I had my last baby just over a year ago, I was 29/active/healthy/vegetarian. I "GOT" health. Or, at lease I thought I did. What I didn't know is that my body, like millions of other women, was actually deficient in nutrition! How could that be?! I was healthy - I shopped at the health food store for everything under the sun! I did cardio daily, I even owned a juicer!!! (Though, rarely used it, in all honesty).
I was so angry when my Doctor had the nerve to tell me I was essentially, sick! I then wanted to know HOW this could happen to someone like me?! (Who in my mind, knew I was healthy!). All my Doctor said was; "I'm sorry, but we really don't know what causes preeclampsia - or the cure for it!" I just stared at him in disbelief. "But...you're a doctor! you're supposed to know how to make me well!". His response to me was followed up by countless others, nurses, doctors, midwives, etc telling me the exact same response! "nobody knows what causes preeclampsia".

I have good news! I have INCREDIBLE, life-changing news that I am SO excited to tell everyone about!!! The cause for preeclampsia as well as the cure was first discovered in the 1950's by Dr. Brewer. DrBrewersPregnancyDiet website has not only the diet to follow that prevents (but) also cures women currently dealing with preeclampsia! I am again, SO happy to share this with you guys!

My life, my future pregnancies are forever changed. All the research is there. All the real-life stories are there. I like SOLID information - and this is it. Please bookmark the site once you find it! It's got A LOT of information to read over, but it is all worth your time, trust me.

Best wishes to all the mommas out there and soon-to-be mommas!!! :)

I realize my post seemed a little "hey I work for this website, come check it out it's amazing" ha ha. But, I can assure you I have nothing to do with them --- I WISH I worked for them, honestly! But, like you I'm just a regular Mom who was in search of some solid information and thank you God, I found it! :)

Blessings!!!
