I was wondering if anyone had it during their pregnancy and if you did what were your symptoms and what did your doctor do to treat it? I've been kinda freaking myself out lately because i've had some blurred vision and today seeing spots along with abdominal pain and pain under my right ribs with are symptoms. Preeclampsia's pretty serious so now i'm just contantly worrying  I go to the doctor Thursday but i'm wondering if I should go in earlier, everywhere I read about it it says to call your doctor if you have any symptoms but I don't know if i'm just worrying about typical pregnancy symptoms . . .

I had it. They didnt really pay much attention to my BP til i hit the 3rd tri. Funny thing is- i never had any of the symptoms minus the high bp! If you are suspecting or feeling as if something is wrong, then def call. Also- it couldnt hurt to call and let them know about your symptoms - they may want you to come in and have a urinalysis done and bloodwork and be monitored. The cure for pre-e is birth! I hope you dont get it! It was awful and left me really tramautized. I spent just about every week from in l&d due to my bp. I didnt start spilling protein in my urine til 37weeks though and that is when they induced me. If you have it- be prepared to be on magnesium - it sucks! =[

I had preeclampsia with my first DD 12 years ago. They found protien accumulating in my urine around 20 - 24 weeks. And at that time my blood pressure started to rise as well.

First of all, there is nothing really they can do but monitor you. You may be put on bedrest to keep your bloodpressure down... I was on bedrest from 33 weeks on. (Had DD in 36th week).

If you have preeclampsia, you may have fairly intense headaches, and just feel "out of yourself". Quite frankly I remember very little of my pregnancy during that time. Maybe because I was on bedrest for a lot of the time, but I think a lot of it had to do with the effects of preeclampsia on my body. Don't forget the massive water retention. My ankle flesh spilled over the edges of my tennis shoes by the end of EVERY DAY. I had elephant legs. Ewww.

But you describe things that happen to many women in later pregnancy. The volume of blood in your body can mess with your vision a lot! Many women who do not wear glasses normally, find themselves being unable to see well when they are pregnant.

Sometimes we just get aches and pains with pregnancy... it is the nature of a mama to be "on top of everything" and be excellent caregivers to our babies. This is extremely evident when we are pregnant and when our babies are small.

I think you are safe to wait until you go to your doc on Thursday, though if you really feel like you need to be checked, you follow your mama instincts! Again, the most that they'll do is have you pee in a cup to check to see if protien is spilling over into your urine, and take your blood pressure.

If you are really worried, have someone take your blood presssure. Thats a premier indicator of intense preeclampsia. Some drug stores have those chairs you can sit in and put your arm in the blood pressure cuff, and have the machine take your BP automatically.

Having preeclampsia is no fun, but it is very treatable and it is entirely curable upon delivery of the baby(s) :) I felt like a completely different person within a couple hours of delivery.

:hugs:

hun i'd get it checked out now, from what youve said it could quite easily be. With you having twins too it makes you more susceptible to it as well. even if it is just nothing, youve not wasted anyones time, your carrying two lives so you need checking over time to time, if it's preeclampsia, theyll sort it, if it isnt then it's overwith, at least you wont be worrying for ages if you go and find out now :)
