Hello,

I am going on holiday to Majorca on September 20th for a week :happydance: and I am wanting advice on travelling as this is my first pregnancy I am unsure of it.

I am looking to take out insurance, obviously to cover anything pregnancy related, so what is a good company?

What did you do that made travelling easier?
What items did you take that helped?

I believe I'll be around the 26 week mark and so I will most likely need a doctors note saying I am fit to fly as we are flying British Airways.

Before 28 weeks you don't need a doctors note... I flew BA this weekend and fly back at 27 weeks. No need to do anything different, just drink plenty of water and expect to get tired if you're on your feet all day...

I've been so preoccupied with a jetlagged, teething toddler my OH has admitted he keeps forgetting I'm pregnant (sympathy wanes second time around! :)). Just enjoy your trip and couple time xx

In terms of insurance, they all have to cover pregnancy. Read the policy through before you buy to make sure they cover repatriation or for you/your partner to stay with each other should anything happen (imagine a complication confining you to bedrest or an early delivery where the baby has to stay in hospital for a long time). It's just worst case scenario but worth getting covered for, I should think.

As for the travelling itself, make sure you stay hydrated, check the local food hygiene issues (should you only drink bottled water and avoid ice or fresh fruit unless peeled/washed with bottled water) and invest in a pair of flight socks. Don't let yourself get too hot and avoid spending too much time in the sun. Apart from that, relax and enjoy yourself thoroughly! :D
