pregnancy & childbirth over 35

hi guys,

don't know where to post this exactly to get as many answers as possible?
hopefully this is the right place!

'cos I am in a dilemma!
of course it would be nice to have a sibling for LO (and OH def wants one for her!!!), but I am 32 already and don't want to have another child before LO is not approx 4 years old! this means I would be around 35 when we start to TTC. the problem is, that I am totally scared about being pregnant and giving birth over 35. maybe it has to do with the birth of my sister, where complications were involved. my mother was 35 at that time!

I would much appreciate your experiences regarding pregnancy and giving birth beyond 35. maybe it will take some scare away???

can you pls let me know what age you were exactly, if it was a normal birth, if you had complications, if the baby was on time, premature or overdue?

this is more like a research for me and I do not know, where else I could get this information from!

I am 41. I have 4 children, ages 9,6 nearly 2 and finally 7 weeks. We have a history of recurrent miscs but not related to age , problem with hubbys sperm.Had no problems with conceiving and pregnancies also no major problems. Was told with last pregnancy that at high risk of pre-eclampsia,diabetes, would need doppler scans etc as a geriatric mother! all i had was a urine infection.All delivered by planned c section as problems with first delivery. You are young ,compared to me ! so go for it

Yup!!! We were late starters. My friend had 'unexpected' twins at 47.

I was 36 when Charlie was born, and we want 2 more!

I had such an easy pregnancy with Kayleigh when I was 22, but the birth was awful. She was 19 days overdue and over 25 hours of active labour with complications weeks after as the placenta had holes in it and wasn't fully delivered. I was in hospital for 5 days following the birth.

With Charlie - complete opposite. Acute SPD during pregnancy meant I was on the sick really early, and ended up being on crutches. I also had awful heartburn, to the point of making me sick. And I didn't sleep from 5 months. But the planned Section (due to the SPD) went fine (apart from the fact they didn't cut wide enough and couldn't get him out!! ) and recovery very quick. Home after 2 days.

To me, the pregnancy is a means to an end. I hate being pg, and am not looking forward to it again. But it is only 9 months out of my life for a little lifetime.

Mickey I would not worry too much about it. My neighbor just had her 2nd at 38, and she was just fine throughout her pregnancy and her birth.

I am also in the same boat, I just turned 33. So I will be at least 35 for #2 and if we go for #3 then I will be at least 37-8. I don't mind so much, I do plan to have genetic testing for the next ones, but aside from that I am not worried as I am healthy and lead a pretty healthy life.

I'm 35 and having my second child. I did all the genetic screening and everything is fine. The pregnancy has been pretty good. They did say I have GD but my sugar levels remain normal and I haven't really changed my diet. I'm 9 days overdue right now but had a scan last Friday and her fluid levels are great. I can't say how it will all go yet but I think everything is going to be great. I'm sure it will be for you too. Good luck!

Not sure what's in the cards for me... I could have more, but DH is in his mid 40's and really would like to be done... then he waffles and says he wants more



But I'll be 34 this year so unless we have Irish twins, I'll also likely be over 35. But I'm healthy so : shrug :.

I had my first at 32, my second at 34 and will be having my third in a few months at 39.

My first pregnancy ended at miscarriage but my three pregnancies afterwards were healthy and so were the babies.
