Hi all. I don't know if any of you remember me posting about my first doc visit at 8 weeks and not seeing the yolk sac (plus other stuff I was worried about), but I went to my 2nd appt and it was the worst visit yet.
My OBGYN said something doesn't look right. At 9 weeks, the baby is suppose to look like a tadpole. Ironically, when I saw it, the baby looked like a frog. Anyway, she pointed to this bump in the image saying it looks like some kind of abnormality. She wasn't sure. She wanted me to see a specialist, a maternal fetal medicine doc. They have better technology there also, so you can see a better image. I went to the specialist. They did see the yolk sac, heartbeat is strong, and the baby is a good size. She said she usually doesn't see pregnant women this early on, so it's hard to tell or say what's going on. She did not see any abnormalities, BUT, unfortunately, the sac is in a confined spot. It's not taking up most of the uterus. The baby hardly has any room to move. The specialist said it could be old blood in the uterus preventing the sac to expand. If this doesn't resolve itself, the pregnancy will not continue.
I'm suppose to see her in 2 weeks. What my husband and I are worried about is not a miscarriage, b/c of course, that's just nature taking its course. We are worried that if this pregnancy does continue, will this baby have damage done due to the confined space of the sac and not knowing till at 20 weeks when it's too late for us to make a decision of terminating the pregnancy or not. I know it sounds selfish and I'm sure some of you don't believe in aborting, but we do not want to face a burden for the rest of our lives and it would not be fair to our son either. All the attention will be drawn away from him.
I was such a wreck during that appt. I am a little better now, but time can only tell and there are more things to worry about.
