Private IVF

Hi everyone.
I was told by Royal Free Hospital that they will refer us at Hammersmith Hospital for IVF but then someone told me that because of our post code we might be referred at King's College and I was told that King's Colloge Hospital has a very long waiting list for IVF treatment. Can someone confirm if this is true or not?

Anyways, a nurse from a different hospital advised me that if we are referred to King's College Hosp we should think of going for a private treatment. I've been looking at the internet which hospital is the best and doesn't cost too much. I am hoping someone will read this post and share their experiences.

Hey Kad

I have no experience of KCH or waiting lists but my friend comes under Surrey PCT and was able to move treatment from Queen Mary's in Roehampton to Nuffield in Woking. If your PCT has a choice of hospitals to provide fertility treatment it may be possible to write to them or speak to your GP about the options?

I'm in the process of writing a request to move my hospital but not sure if i will have any success!

I googled top 10 IVF clinics in the Uk the other day and KCH was in the top 10 - it might be worth looking at this and also the hfea website to see what their success rates are like? UCH and Lister scored very well in the top 3.

No worries - I emailed my friend as i know she just changed hospitals to find out how she did it - will let you know what she says.

At the end of the day i would say you need to be 110% happy with the service and treatment you are going to get - our NHS clinic was crap, i wasn't happy and they treated us really badly - so now we are contemplating private treatment and i feel happier already!
