I've gone back to pre making bottles. I do 7oz bottles but they rise to either 7.5oz or 8oz so how do you measure how much lo has actually had? For instance, his bottle just was on the 8oz mark, finished on the 3oz line. So had he just had 5oz or 4oz ? X

Ava has 5oz bottles, it rises to just over 5.5oz and she always leaves just under half an ounce so I say she has had 5oz cos i filled it with 5oz of water

I'd say your LO had 4oz though if you filled the water line to 7oz - the weight of the formula makes the line rise so they're still eating the same number of ounces it just looks like more cos of the weight of the formula

That's what I was thinking cus I only put 7oz of formula in. It really confused me though! x

Lol it confuses me too! We are on 7oz bottles too and it's 8oz by the time I've added the powder. If she leaves 2oz I count that as her having had 6oz.

If you use premade cartons it obviously has the powder already in it and if you measured it up to the 8oz line you would count that as a full 8oz so I would say it's the same if you make it up yourself - does that make sense lol!!!!

I was taught that where the milk line is after everything is mixed together is how many oz they're are drinking. I've now taken to mixing all the bottles in one jug and then pouring them out into the bottle to get more even amounts. She takes 5 bottles and 30 oz. So I make up 27 oz of water + formula in a pitcher and once I've poured it into each bottle, each one is perfectly 6 oz.

Right, so are you saying that this morning he had acually had 5 oz because it started on the 8oz line (after being stored) and finished on the 3 oz line??

If this is the case, then this is why i hink he has been having less over the last week since i started making them up and storing because i have been going off the 7oz that i fill them too yet it is actually rising to the 8oz line. Hope that makes sense!! xx
